Doyle retains captaincy

The decision to reappoint the 34-year-old Allenwood clubman was announced by manager Kieran McGeeney after Sunday's O'Byrne Cup first round win over DIT. Doyle wasn't part of the Kildare squad on the day, but could make his seasonal return in next Sunday's quarter-final against Offaly in Newbridge.
The All Star forward was pushed into a midfield role for last year's championship, but will be expected to return to the attack when Dermot Earley and Hugh Lynch return from cruciate ligament injuries.
Meanwhile, Naas' Eamonn Callaghan will continue as vice-captain. Tweet
