Kerry selector Mikey Sheehy is the latest recipient of the Munster Hall of Fame award.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner will be guest of honour at the Munster GAA Council annual awards when he will receive his Hall of Fame award.

He played for his local club Austin Stacks and was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 1974 until 1987. Sheehy is regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time.

In 1984, the Gaelic Athletic Association centenary year he was honoured by being named on their Football Team of the Century. In 1999 he was again honoured by the GAA by being named on their Gaelic Football Team of the Millennium.

Sheehy is not the only Kerry person that will be honoured at the awards on Saturday night as Jack Savage has been named Munster minor footballer of the Year, while Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh takes the ladies award.
