O'Rahillys poised to appoint new manager
January 08, 2010
Kerins O'Rahillys look set to appoint a successor to Denis 'Ogie' Moran in the coming days, after the Kerry legend stepped down as the club's senior football manager at the end of last year.
Moran had come agonisingly close to leading the club to a coveted Munster club SFC crown, but they were denied by defending champions Killmurry-Ibrickane in the dying stages of the final.
O'Rahillys now look poised to appoint a seventh senior manager in eight years, as sources close to the club say they are confident of a successor to Moran being confirmed by the end of next week.
Meanwhile, the managerial merry-round in Kerry continued this week, as both the Kilcummin and St Michael's/Foilmore clubs have new men at the helm of their senior football teams.
East Kerry outfit Kilcummin have appointed former An Ghaeltacht trainer Cathal O Dubhda to replace Diarmuid O'Callaghan, meanwhile reigning All-Ireland club intermediate champions, St Michael's/Foilmore have opted for Kieran Cronin to succeed James Mike O'Sullivan, who also stepped down at the end of last year.
