Murphy's monster point gets East Kerry home

Paul Murphy was the unlikely hero as East Kerry edged out Dingle by 1-9 to 1-8 at Austin Stack Park to reach their third Kerry SFC final in four years.

On a day when David Clifford was held to just a single point from a free, fellow county player and centre back Murphy kicked the winning point from 55 metres to set up a repeat of the 2020 decider between East Kerry and Mid Kerry, who defeated Feale Rangers in the other semi-final on Saturday.

Played in difficult conditions, points from Tom O’Sullivan, Paul Geaney and Dylan Geaney had Dingle 0-5 to 0-3 ahead at half-time. East Kerry levelled through Cian Gammell and Ronan Buckley after the restart, only for Geaney to put Dingle back in front with a well-taken goal in the 38th minute.

But their lead didn't last long as within a minute Paudie Clifford fisted home at the other end. It was nip and tuck after that before the vastly experienced Murphy won it for the divisional side with a monster point in the third minute of stoppage time.
