Beagh reach first SHC semi-final

September 20, 2013
Beagh are the first team through to the Galway SHC semi-finals after registering a surprise 2-12 to 1-13 victory over Turloughmore at Kenny Park last Saturday.

It is the first time in the history of the small south Galway club to reach the last four. For Turloughmore, the defeat was a huge disappointment after they had contested a semi-final last year and had hoped to build on that this season.

Beagh led by 2-7 to 1-7 at half-time thanks to goals from Kevin Keehan and Padraic Landers, and had opened up a 2-11 to 1-8 advantage by the end of the third quarter before a late Turlough' rally left just two points in it at the finish.

The remaining SHC quarter-finals will take place this Sunday, September 22 with Padraig Pearses facing Loughrea and Castlegar taking on St. Thomas' in a Kenny Park afternoon double-header. On Sunday evening, Loughrea will be the venue for the meeting of Portumna and Ardrahan.
