Henry Shefflin was critical of referee Johnny Murphy after his Galway side had three players sent off in their win over Dublin.

The 1-23 to 1-15 victory at Pearse Stadium, which secured Tribesmen’s top-flight Allianz Hurling League status for next year, was overshadowed by red cards for Conor Whelan, Daithi Burke and Jack Grealish (two yellows).

“With the setbacks and sendings off, I felt our team managed it very well,” the Galway manager told RTÉ.

"There was great leadership shown throughout the group. But I thought there was no flow to the game and unfortunately people will be talking about the referee's performance, the sendings off and not penalties.

"The best of referees we just don't talk about them, we don't really see them. Unfortunately, there was a lot of incidents today [where] the crowd, on both sides, were wondering what way the decision was going to go."
