Galway came from behind to see off Clare by 1-24 to 0-22 in Ennis this afternoon and claim their second win in Division 1 Group A of the Allianz Hurling League.

The Tribesmen’s dreadful start saw them falling 0-8 to 0-1 behind in the open quarter of an hour, as Cathal Malone, Peter Duggan and Aidan McCarthy were all accurate early on for the hosts.

Henry Shefflin’s charges eventually found some rhythm and the points of Conor Cooney, Evan Niland and Joseph Cooney would trim their deficit down to the minimum, with the scoreboard reading 0-12 to 0-11 in Clare’s favour at half-time.

Once Galway got their noses in front in the second-half they wouldn’t fall behind again, eventually opening up a four-point gap before Conor Whelan smashed in their goal with 12 minutes left which essentially sealed the comeback win.
