Derek Savage is still going strong for his club Cortoon Shamrocks, 20 years after winning a second All-Ireland SFC medal with Galway.

The 43-year-old lined out at corner forward for Cortoon in their Galway SFC opener against Killannin last weekend. In what was their first championship outing since last October's IFC final victory over Kilkerrin-Clonberne, Cortoon succumbed to a 0-5 to 1-12 defeat.

However, they will have a chance to redeem themselves against St James' in the next round on the weekend after next.
