Tim Rabbitt has stepped down as manager of the Galway ladies senior football team.

The Oranmore-Maree clubman has opted to step down following last month's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Cork, a game surrounded by controversy due to a late change of venue and which was described as "disappointing" and a "dark cloud" by Rabbitt in a statement confirming his departure on Galway Bay FM earlier today.

Rabbitt served as part of Stephen Glennon's backroom team in 2018 before taking the manager's role for the past two seasons. In his first year at the helm, he guided Galway to a Connacht title and their first All-Ireland final appearance in 14 years.
