Conroy appointed Galway captain

Galway's Paul Conroy
Paul Conroy has been named Galway football captain for the season ahead.
The 24-year-old St. James' clubman, who takes over the captaincy from Finian Hanley, will lead the Tribesmen out for the first time in today's Connacht FBD League opener against Sligo at Tuam Stadium.
The highly-rated midfielder is no stranger to the captain's role, having skippered Galway to All-Ireland minor glory in 2007 when current senior boss Alan Mulholland was also at the helm. Conroy graduated to the senior squad the following year and has since played for Ireland in the International Rules series.
Mulholland has also named a new vice-captain in the shape of Gary Sice, who was the inspiration behind Corofin's Galway SFC title win last year. He also captained his club to success in the Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Sevens competition. Last year's vice-captain was Gareth Bradshaw.
