Roscommon can have no complaints. We flopped in Clones against a bang average Monaghan team. This season is done. On to next year and I have high hopes for the Rossies in their primrose and blue.

With everyone fairly average then they wouldn't have stayed up in Division 1 and won Connacht against two Division 1 teams.

Bad day for Four Roads and Roscommon hurling with a 37 point defeat. Game as contest was over after 10 minutes. Was like watching a minor team up against inter county senior team given the difference in physicality and conditioning. Not sure if such a match did Tooreen much good either. Shocking reflection on Roscommon hurling considering how dominant Four Roads have been. Doesn't seem that long ago when the Roscommon clubs would routinely beat Tooreen. The gap seems huge now.

Time for our champions to go Junior?

You may have a point. Four Roads rode their luck to win the Roscommon championship but this results points to serious regression. Interesting to see how far Tooreen progress. That is a wake up call if ever there was one for the state of Roscommon club hurling. Like Athleague and Ros Gaels are out of the conversation at the moment in club context in Roscommon. This result is saying that our club champions are very poor and that the pretenders are no better.

Tooreen to Senior should have been the case for a number of years now a bit of nonsense that they had to win the All-Ireland to be allowed to play at a higher level. Into a 12th year without a win in the Connacht championship or against a Mayo club now. Today the worst of the lot. 2025 Four Roads lost by 5 points to Tooreen 2024 Four Roads lost by 10 points to Tooreen 2023 Four Roads lost by 9 points to Tooreen 2022 Four Roads lost by 15 points to Tooreen 2021 Athleague lost by 15 points to Tooreen 2020 no championship 2019 Four Roads lost by 10 points to Tooreen 2018 Athleague lost by 5 points to Tooreen 2017 Pearses lost by 10 points to Tooreen 2016 Oran lost by 6 points to Ballyhaunis 2015 Four Roads beat Ballyhaunis by 3 points So how and why did the 5 to 15 point defeats become 37 today is the main question. No shame. Tooreen have a brilliant team. Could have won the all Ireland this year against Tipp opposition and three years ago against Limerick opposition. Will be interesting to see how they get on against stronger Galway opposition this year.

Probably. Would Four Roads beat the Sligo hurling champions, for instance? Probably not.

Roscommon clubs were edging the Mayo clubs when they all went into a senior Connacht championship. That is a shocking record in intermediate level. Would dual players having played for Aidans in the junior final explain how that 5-15 point margin reached nearly 40? I think Tooreen have upped their game this year in preparation for stronger Galway opposition and the hurt of losing that final last year. Are Four Roads playing challenges against Galway intermediate teams? Tooreen probably should be playing senior but then again the Galway intermediate club this year should be around the same standard. I agree with Yew no shame in losing or even getting a bit of a hiding from a great Tooreen team that should have won at least one of the two All Ireland's but a near 40 point defeat is brutal. Yes, agree with all of the above. A near 40 points defeat is Shocking .Then scraping over Oran and Doms in Roscommon to probably steal another county title. Oran and Doms have their own difficulties with dual players playing at a level in football way above the Aidan's/Four Roads lads too. This is a huge wake up call for Four Roads. Many of their forefathers of the game must be seriously wincing at such a hammering. As for the other clubs in the county they also see the dose of reality here. No quick fix but a desperate need to improve club hurling in Roscommon. And I'd agree. Our county champions would probably struggle to beat the Sligo champions at this stage.
