What the new rules that kept Corduff up? Won the league relegatiin playoff final and won the championship relegation semi final. They won the games they had to in the relegation battle. New rules didnt keep them up, winning 2 play off games kept them up... Just like Doohamlet, or did the new rules keep them up too??? Weekend Takeaways - Hopefully now people can cool the jets on Magheracloone. They've an intermediate standard forward line. Them winning the league last year makes our Senior League look even worse than it already did. Felt sorry for Tommy having to do the commentary on that game. - Death, taxes, Carrick not having the belly for a tight game. - Andrew Woods has been one of the top few club players in the county for years now. Unbelievable performance. Hard to bate seeing a little village beating a big town. I'd love to see them get a championship. - Farcical that the two semi finals are repeat matches from the groups. It should have been Scotstown vs Truagh and Clontibret vs Inniskeen. Don't care what anybody thinks, Banty is the best man to get the best out of the lads we have. He has a proven track record of giving young players their debut (Mansy, A Woods etc.) and getting them through to being key players. He will bring the best coaches out there into the fray also. Have it from a reliable source that the players want Banty. Banty done a v good job with us 05-08 probably stayed too long towards the end 09 and 10 . The county was at a low ebb when he took over and he started making us not so nice to play against again when we were seen for years as a soft touch got some respect bsck into the jersey. He did have a great group of players through and unfortunately when it came ro the big days he just couldnt get us over the line that came later with malachy but make no mistake Banty laid the groundwork. His second reign 3 years far less so its hard to forget the disaster of the Cavan game and a few sub par championship days out stilted defensive football. All that beating the chest BS only get you so far. Im not sure what incarnation of him wed get this time would he trust a proper cosch to take the lead or would his ego demand his way which is a bit dated for modern game. Can't help feeling we could do and at this stage deserve a lot better than Banty. We had some disastrous results in championship football during that time, leaving behind an ulster final to tyrone was unforgiveable. I'm not interested in league standings, our bar is high or so we think it is, can he drag us back to a semi final or even more in the white heat of championship. Of course the pressure grows now on players and we don't do well in situations like that. If McCague wanted it and/or county board wanted him, Scotstown wouldn't derail that. Would Banty being back be that bad for Monaghan football. If he wasn't housing refugees someone else would, at least he would use it to back Monaghan football. Sometime he's portrayed as he's breaking the law, not his fault the government are firing money at him. I'm sure the players want him as they would be treated like professionals. I don't think we should have him on the line but bring him in as a JP mc manus sort of figure. Money talks bigger and better managers get attracted therefore should drive Monaghan foward.
