Against ME, Josh O'Connor one of their best players gets injured in the warmup, they play very well and build a good lead, then ME come back into it, Kinvara get a penalty up one, take the point to go up 2 then concede a goal to lose it. From maybe playing well enough to top the group to fighting relegation. Not our year" A win over Portumna, which seems attainable, should put Kinvara in a preliminary qfinal. Interesting Senior Weekend, OM v Cashel huge match, and so could Craughwell v Cappy. If Mellows got a draw or a win it's straight shootout. Cappy will relish it, backs to wall. Craughwell not going as good as last year, fortunate v Mellows, and flattered v Bridge. Don't be surprised if shock there. Cashel probably be slight favourites to pip OM. That's a very dangerous draw for Loughrea in the prelims, having conceded 3-21 to Gort and now facing a confident Castlegar side. Darragh Neary and Greg Thomas will definitely cause them problems and they might also have Farragher back for the game. You'd expect St Thomas', Craughwell and Turlough to come through the other games. Portumna going well now in the premier intermediate with a big win today against Kinvara. They had a good run in Senior B last year, which is the top half of what is Intermediate this year so clearly weren't a million miles away. Kilkenny had plenty All Ireland winners who played for Junior clubs. They didn't have a bloated 24 team senior competition though. We're seeing proper cut and thrust now with 16 and 16 in Senior and Intermediate. Whoever goes down will come back up if they're good enough. Craughwell have failed to find the form they finished with last year. As for Ardrahan, a narrow win against killimordaly did not look very promising. But if you take into consideration the year they had last year facing relegation they would have been happy to just come away with that result as it meant for them they were safe as that game was really to decide 4th of that group. However we seen big improvement again with them against Athenry. To be down 10 points with 14 men (losing Cianan Fahy a huge loss) to then rally together and control the last 15 minutes of that game to bring it back to 3 points and a missed chance to draw the game from a free outside the 21. Then you go to yesterdays game with Turlough, they hold on 2-3 points behind for majority of the game until the last 5 minutes. Down 5/6 men that had started there last 2 games, 2 of them being Cianan Fahy and Brian Callanan who are there 2 best players on top of already missing the likes of Oisin Slevin and Ross Albertini. I think Ardrahan will be delighted with that draw considering they avoided Thomas's and Lrea. I agree with your picks and while you're right about the Loughrea v Gort match Loughrea could have had a few more goals. Castlegar could give them a fright though. St Thomas's should handle Gort. It could be a tight enough game alright but I'd be very surprised if Craughwell don't go through in the end. Tom Monaghan and Tiarnan Leen in midfield have come to form in last two games and they are as good in that area of the field as any team in the competition. Josh Ryan took Monaghan completely out of the game against Clarinbridge but not many teams have that sort of man marking option to nullify him, especially with his pace and shooting. Ciaran Leen and Jamie Ryan starting to hit form as well and they have a few new options up front with Zimmerer and McCartin. Ardrahan very solid at the back but I don't think they have the scoring power to win games at knockout stage. One way or another it is going to set up four belters of quarter finals no matter what way the draw goes. You could have Clarinbridge v St Thomas' or a repeat of the Bridge Loughrea game last year. Sarsfields v Turloughmore would be a mighty game as well. Larkins I believe picked up some injuries at the weekend so they need those to clear for a months time. The Galway Premier Junior is a joke..whoever gets relegated from Intermediate will go straight back up the following year and so on ect ect. There are Clubs in Premier Junior who will never see the light of Intermediate again just stuck in Junior forever. There should be relegation from Premier Junior to Reeves Cup and promotion from Reeves Cup to Premier Junior.. If a Clubs 2nd team are good enough to win their way up the grades let them play Intermediate.
