I don't think thats a fair assessment. He cant score if they cant get the ball to him. Truagh controlled the ball dominated the kickouts and Cremartin couldn't get out of their defense.

Luke Hughie Mc Kenna was very impressive he was always on the ball and he was throwing himself about to not afraid to get stuck in which is a big plus.

The best forward in the championship has been Paudie McMahon. The best player on the pitch in two of his three games. Consistently outstanding for Magheracloone. Steven Mooney and Sean Jones are probably the other two for me.

Maguire non existent against Scotstown, and Corduff also done well stopping him.

McGinnity definitely a good player but long ways to go before he's in these conversations. He's not being marked by opposition's main markers yet so it's hard to judge. Very reliable free taker though.

Wont have max mc ginnity for much longer as reports from amidst his u20 season are coming through and hes moving the australia. Gaa may need to do something about this as were losing gems of footballers for going to australia and the likes

Luke Hughie is a classy footballer and a gentleman off the pitch. With players like him and gary mohan and ronan botle truagh should avoid relegation. Luke scored two goals vs cremartin all be it the second was as lucky as they come as it hit off him n fell into net. He did pull out of few tackles but hopefully with experience he doesnt pull out of tackles as he could be a gem for monaghan and truagh.

Toome did not get rid of any manager last year or this year. Last year they left to save the club some money as it was clear they were going to be relegated. This year the manager walked after loosing a league final and 2 championship matches. Main problem being injuries. Few main lads injured, one for the season and a few others at various times. Heavy fixture load didnt help either. Between reserve semi finals and final, league final, 5 days later championship first round. Not ideal when dealing with about 23 players to do all that.

Been watching Mc Kenna for awhile. One thing you can expect out of him is that he will throw himself about int eh mixer. A great man marker too

What can the GAA do? I've a lad working for me on a top wage, double what most are paying and he's headed off to Australia. His da just gave him a site and he's a woman here but still they're packing up and heading off. Gov has created a climate where the youth would rather be anywhere but here.

For the county you're loosing 3-4 of those Scotstown U21 lads in the next 18 months from what I've been told. Big Gavin was just the start of it for them, but likely will be the same story for a lot of clubs.

Didn't know being a gentlemen wins games. This young Truagh team have a long way to go yet, unsure if they have the players to compete at the level of Scotstown. If I put my wife and kids on Truagh to win a champo in the next 10 years, I'd be homeless

I think Cremartin but after there perforance last weekend I think it could be truagh or corduff. Truagh have massive two games left and if they don't get good results there not in good position.
Truagh to get relegated.

Intermediate
Hard to look past Eirog who have been very poor but Tyholland could replace them as they are as poor. With players like Gooch to come off the bench and Karl OConnoll they should have enough.

Luke H McKenna is a terrific prospect. He was very consistent for the Monaghan U20's this year and so unlucky to miss the Ulster final. Him being available would have tightened up that Monaghan U20 defense.

Although we have yet to get to the real business end of the championships, so far Tommy Mallen has really stood out. Lad is so much potential. Dualta Honney has been impressive too. Matthew Carolan has been excellent. Magheracloone could do with 3D printing Packie Doogan-Burke.

In intermediate, Harry Hamill looks very promising.

But the question has to be asked where is Toome GAA heading. Do they have any juveniles?. Most of their team is made up from older lads near the end. After putting up a state of the art stand and realistically in a year or two when a few men go they will never get out of Junior.

Blackhill the same most of the team 30+ yes they have a few juvenile teams but that takes years to come through and most of the time for smaller clubs you only get one or two players who's gonna play senior.

Junior is very quickly becoming a graveyard playing C tams and poor teams. Rockorry, Blackhill, Toome, Kileevan even Oram and Aghabog will these teams ever get out of Junior if they don't get out this year. Teams relegated from intermediate will have played 11 league games against better opposition and tougher championship. While Junior teams playing 7 league games against poor opposition. Relegated intermediate team always going to be stronger.

I do agree with your point there is very little hope of truagh winning anything. They are trying to buy the chmapionship. Darren Oneill (Clare) Shane Moran(Leitrim) and heard recently they looking Diarmud Murtagh (Rosscommon).

They will probably still win nothing. To many injury prone players.

It's between Cremartin and Corduff. Cremartin probably better team but are in a bad position after league.
Intermediate =Eire Og. Not at the level. Only promoted because Emyvale won double in Junior.
Promotion
Obviously Killanny are up. Ballybay for Championship. Aughnamullen go up too.
In Junior, Drumhowan are up. Currin, Oram ,Blackhill or maybe Aghabog for next 2 places although Toome could go up if Drumhowan reach Championship final.
Thoughts?

Truagh and Iniskeen are they only teams with the armory to beat Scotstown. Iniskeen we know all about them

Truagh no matter how inconsistent they are they always rise for Scotstown, local rivalry. They have the size to match up with Scotstown and some good players. But again they need Mohan and Kelly back asap to have any hope.

No knock out games for ages. Teams can lose a championship game and it hardly matters. The Ulster Champions finished third in there group last year. Big deal, it hardly hindered them.

This lack of edge has filtered down. Poor attendances at games and clubs dont even bother to put up starting teams or tweet the full game. Will even be worse next year in senior with 2 extra (and weaker) teams.

Im not saying go full Tyrone (straight knockout) but even the old format were if you lost you had 1 final chance in backdoor is better than this current "challenge game championship" we currently have.

Oh and on top of this the league is basically pointless.

Fully agree. It's time to totally unlink league and championship and have teams able to climb or drop via both separately. Maybe going 4 groups of 3 next season would be the fix? Top 2 make quarters and bottom of each in to relegation playoffs with one down. Have the league work that it splits in to 6 and 6 after 11 games. Top of section A wins the league and bottom of section B goes down

Well lads. I just happened to scroll through your Senior Championship winners on Wikipedia.
I could not believe that it Monaghan Harps last win was in 1923 and Carrickmacross 1919.
I thought 2 of our bigger town teams of Ballymahon (2002) and Granard (1982) were long droughts, but your 2 is something else.
Is there any reason why both clubs have not won it in a long time?
I know there is probably soccer in Monaghan town but surely that shouldn't be stopping a good town GAA team.
And what is the story with Carrick?
