A lot of these new football nonsensical rules are partially the reason for the empty ground.

Didn't see Donegal matches against Cork and Down but watching them today you could see why they lost both games.

Shooting efficiency is all that held Dublin from winning comfortably in normal time. They dominated extra time. Fitness a big thing about Donegal under McGuinness yet looked out on their feet.

All-Ireland series into the last 8 and appears to be a competition of who is going to lose the All-Ireland final to Kerry

Rory Beggan with 0-6 for Monaghan today.

Record score for a goalkeeper in the Championship?

Quarter final lottery predictions:
Galway v Dublin
Cork v Monaghan
Louth v Mayo
Tyrone v Kerry

Galway, Dublin, Kerry and Tyrone the 4 strong All Ireland contenders but anything can happen. Donegal, Dublin, Galway and Armagh were the favourites going into the quarter finals last year. Only Donegal of the 4 favourites got through last year. Anything can happen in championship and it usually does.

Final 8:

2 from Ulster
2 from Leinster
2 from Connaught
2 from Munster.

So no province is shattered.

Kerry are the clear frontrunners with Galway in second, but I don't see how Dublin or Tyrone are really set apart from the others tbh. It will be an interesting draw in the morning because I think for the most part, each team will rightly think they can beat the others

No surprise where you are from in questioning the new format. Kerry for a change are having to earn their place in an All Ireland quarter final. It's now a fairer system where all teams are getting a fair crack. This years Championship is a breathe of fresh air."
Guess what. Who is giving out about the nrw format now?. Surprise surprise its Jimmy mcguinness.

Well we know it won't be Roscommon who lose the final.

Attendances have been brilliant this year. Mainly due to the new rules. Moving that free forward was a poor call in my opinion, and we saw some even harsher examples at the latter stages of the club championships. However, the rule changes overall have made football a far better game. Way more contests for possessionln, more 1-on-1 battles, especially for defenders and goal scoring chances and goals scored have increased significantly.

Leaving the unsporting behaviour of their supporters and the league should have been red card incident aside, Donegal are of course more than a viable contender. When I commiserated Donegal supporters after last year's final - I acknowledged that Donegal would strike back this year.
Tyrone were a tough opponent in last year's semi final. Tyrone are also looking to strike back. Galway have been waiting since 22. There will be more twists and turns in this championship race yet. Many warning signs from rivals to be heeded and concerned about but sure that's the challenge."
What do mean by "the unsporting behaviour of Donegal supporters " ? .. I've always found them friendly , up for the craic and generally sporting. Surely they were hardly responsible for the constant loud booing during the second half of Round 1 in Killarney .

I was specifically talking about that match and that specific ground. That rule about moving a ball forty yards for not handing the ball to an opponent is I will be polite, stupid. Football is now a surreal game.

We have been there before with All-Ireland final loses to Kerry in 1980,1962,1946.

Who knows maybe Monaghans first All-Ireland final since 1930 and rematch with Kerry.
