The fact that our corner back finished as our top scorer from play (fair dues to him) and we were outscored 2-11 to 1-3 in the second half sums up another dark championship day. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1560 - 16/05/2026 19:49:48 2673373 Link 0 |

Tbh, that wasn't even our worst performance, damage was really done in the first half, were five up but should've been eight up given the chances we had, too many lads got carded and we were always walking a tightrope, injuries came back to bite us as well, Jippo was a massive loss, the second goal we conceded was absolutely shambolic but with all the lads missing, all it takes is for a few injuries and we're playing lads who aren't up to the standard needed ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1237 - 16/05/2026 19:56:36 2673375 Link 0 |

Yes, still naive which is remarkable considering the amount of chances a lot of the lads have had now. We always seem to have a brainfart or two in us in the lead-up to goals in every game. It says it all though that our corner-back was our top scorer from play and we were outscored by 2-11 to 1-3 after half-time. We are steeped to hold the head-to-head against Kildare, who we struggled to put away more than any of the subsequent teams that played them. Very unfortunate to lose our two defensive pillars to injury, and I shudder at the prospect of a hammering to Galway now if them two are out considering they lost today and will surely be hunting for a backlash. God be with the days Mac got criticism on here when he could at least win his own ball inside. We have zero full-forward now. Jacko isn't the same post-injury and is probably still best as an impact sub. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1560 - 16/05/2026 21:06:50 2673387 Link 0 |

Very disapointed gone out of championship already only mid may no point in blaming missing players we have what we have so need to look to the future now Chin probably gone after this year but have young o brien comming if we dont blow him up too much hes still only a chap.Talking to a kk man a couple of weeks ago and he was just saying he remembers being at a minor all ireland and johnwalsh of mullinavat scored something like 3 -6 in the final and everyone was saying he would be the next great player but never made the breakthrough after so just shows you we have to be patient.Come next April we will all be dreaming of at least getting to the leinster final like we do every year.Disapointment fades but we have to stay positive.

Looking like its either Carlow or Laois who will win Joe Mac this year so we need to beat them next year to avoid dropping to Joe Mac... Goreylad1985 (Wexford) - Posts: 45 - 16/05/2026 21:28:54 2673399 Link 0 |

Don't understand what you are trying to say here lad to be honest…Are you on the Galway management team? you seem to know what's going on between Galway's Senior & U20 Management teams!! " They were trying to manage Senior lads" "They were told when to bring Rabbitte on" "And their U20 management thought they were going to lose game" That's a huge reach to try prove something. Either way Aaron Niland and Jason Rabbitte started for Galway seniors this evening and didn't start the U20 against Wexford on Wednesday night. And Certainly Don't understand the comparison you trying to make about Sean O Brien/Rhys Wickham!!!??? Spuds&GAA (Wexford) - Posts: 26 - 16/05/2026 21:49:51 2673403 Link 0 |

Lads stop all the negativity, we beat Cork in a minor game a few years ago. All's good in Wexford hurling!!! Goreylad1985 (Wexford) - Posts: 45 - 16/05/2026 22:00:14 2673405 Link 0 |

6 teams in Leinster and we just above 6th place barely! 11 teams in Liam MacCarthy and we are just above 11th place barely!! Thats the reality

Yes, right now that is the reality unfortunately but things change quickly in sports. We have no divine right to be a top 3 team in Leinster due to a brief spell of success how ever many decades ago. We could move forward or we could move backwards it's impossible to know but we'll still love and support the team regardless. Remember they are giving their best at the end of the day and if that's not enough then so be it

With the greatest degree of respect, no-one is suggesting that everything is wonderful at underage level and your comment seems directed at one poster in particular And Carley played well too tbf to him, not a corner-back but your comment yesterday was unnecessary ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1237 - 16/05/2026 22:50:10 2673420 Link 0 |

I mean, it's not as if they were miles ahead of us at U20 level in 2023 and it's not as if their side that won AI U20 were on the same level as say Limerick in 2015 or 2017, they only beat KK by a point in the 2024 Leinster SF and then Dublin by 3 points in the Leinster Final that year Biggest problem is the number of players from our 2022-2023 teams who weren't starting today Lawlor - Established starter by now Roche - First year in as a starter and only 21 has struggled but that's to be expected Cillian Byrne - First year in as a starter, needs to fill out, still only 21, needs time and patience Diarmuid O'Leary - First year in the squad, needs to fill out, thought he did ok enough today Darragh Carley - Thought he played well today, much better suited by wing-back So that's the starters, now for the rest of them Conor Foley - Came on, I think he's much more capable than what he's been showing Cian Molloy - First appearance this season, thought he was good when he came on, has been a big loss up until now Cian Byrne - Has played very little this year, injuries haven't helped Jack Redmond - First year as a starter, has struggled big time but that happens, can't write him off just yet David Codd - Not in the matchday squad for whatever reason, starts in midfield for the Martin's while O'Leary starts at wing-back but O'Leary starts at midfield for Wexford ahead of him, weird one for me Corey Byrne-Dunbar - Not in the matchday squad, probably hasn't filled out but has the talent to be good Seán Rowley - Only 21 and has had a few injuries this year, need time and patience Tucker Kinsella - Good talent but lacks dog, seems to have fallen out of favour Eoin Ryan - Travelling and away for the year A.J. Redmond - Won't commit Joe Barrett - Won't commit Eoin Whelan - Left the panel because he wasn't getting enough gametime Éamon Wickham - Injured now, first year in the panel, needs to fill out, could improve with time I don't think it's a case that a lot of those U20s just haven't pushed on, it's the case for some of them but it's just a combination of everything really between lads travelling, lads not committing, lads getting injured, lads not seeing eye-to-eye with the management team, lads needing time to physically develop Doesn't help that we have to throw them all at the same time as a significant number of older, more experienced players stepped away from the panel ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1237 - 16/05/2026 23:03:03 2673424 Link 0 |

This is a strawman argument again, Viking has never suggested that all is good with Wexford hurling Tbf, whether you agree or disagree with him, he has offered many, many suggestions as to how we can improve Wexford hurling I see a load of lads giving out about Wexford hurling on social media but there seems to be a dearth of lads willing to coach teams ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1237 - 16/05/2026 23:28:36 2673429 Link 1 |
