WE REPLACED BOTH CIAN LYNCH AND PETER CASEY, THE TWO BEST PLAYERS IN THE PREVIOUS YEARS FINAL, IN 2022 AND STILL LOWERED THE MORE. HOW DID THE CATS DO IN 2010 WHEN SHEFFLIN AND NOEL HICKEY WERE OFF.

I was looking at the stats. I always had the opinion that Cusack Park is a fortress for them but their win rate during the round robin is only 50%. Unfortunately its 66.7% against us but we did win last time we were there.
Our conversion rate against Cork was 55%. Thats very poor at this level. You cant win off 55%. We need to up that to 70% or more. If we do that will bring us into 33 plus points range which is where we should be. Thats a significant improvement though so hopefully they are on form. There is a lot of talk about scoring goals and if we do that's great but getting that shot conversion rate up is key.

Hickey was full back that day, KK won 8 titles in 10 years.

So why are you alluding to something with no examples of it. It seems odd to be questioning selections and the fairness of them, based on no evidence.

Lads I think it's pointless comparing both teams. Kilkenny had a fantastic team no doubt. We will always remember those players for what they did.
Even though technically not far apart one of the main reasons I don't think we can compare is the round Robin format. To do back to back in this time is extra hard. Nearly double the number of championship games kilkenny would have had to do. And, In an extremely competitive province when munster teams are eventually winning all irelands. 6 in a row munster was never done before, to do it during this era is INCREDIBLE. Our boys' place in history is sealed.
For all I know, that Kilkenny team might have even risen more to challenge of a round Robin format but like I said no point in comparing.
The fact our lads are still even on everyone's lips is something. This talk is like our lads have hung up the boots while yes it can't be too far away but who know we might sneak one more in. Watched last week's game back last night, only a cat's whisker between both teams! Go on limerick today

That was some statement
I was seriously nervous going into this one but apart from the opening 4 minutes and a brief spell middle of the 2nd half we blew Clare away
They were poor but I think that was down to how good we were
Plenty of contenders for MOTM and Nicky for sure deserved it (which is odd in such a one sided game but Clare score any of those goal chances and the game is back in the melting pot) but I was delighted to see Aidan O Connor go so well
In hindsight, we were fortunate to have put him on the frees in the league and today he looked at his ease both in frees and play. O Brien too was a nightmare for the Clare backs.
Also great to get some minutes into Dan and to see Fitzgerald, Hurley and Flanagan get a run
Future looks decidedly brighter with Lynch to come back the next day - DOD was fine but not good enough to keep Lynch out. Fingers crossed Gillane can get a run v Waterford. Hard to see Waterford beating Cork even in Walshe Park but if they do they will be a major handful for us

Really delighted that's out of the way..was extremely nervous of this one but thrilled the way they played..could have won by a much larger margin if they took easier scores rather than one pass to many..
I know Nicky made 2 outstanding saves but Clare never troubled us over the seventy plus.
Dan played very well and we got a few scores from the bench which was huge..there is still more from a lot of them and I hope it can only get better..
We got huge return from full forward line and I hope they keep feeding them,they are lethal.
Might be a slight discipline issue,no problem with English,very silly challange while on a yellow..don't know how Nash wasn't sent off whether it was a black or second yellow..I hadn't any problem with byrnes challange as I thought it was fair shoulder..I'd give o Donnell the benefit as I thought o brien was falling.hopefully this sets us up for a long summer.

I have often thought what is the point in thrashing teams, what does anyone learn or get from it. In this case though I actually think we get a number of things.
1. The obvious, pressure is off, another 2 points against either of the last 2 and we'll make it out of munster
2. Confidence for young players, O'Connor and O'brien will know if they play like that they will keep their place. They got better as the game went on. O Brien in particular was braver sticking up the paw for the ball and was more assured shooting. Huge for these 2 to do it without Gillane .
3. Valuable minutes into Tom and DO'D. There are still big games to come, they have to benefit from the game they got. The pick up earlier in the game didn't happen for Tom, there definitely was rustiness there. I think we might see him start in another round Robin game.
4. Bench impact, not just the point he scored but really liked the look of fintan Fitzgerald. Seemed very assured in possession.

Slight causes for concern, too zealous in the tackling. Definitely could do with getting on the good side of the ref in the next match and finish with 15! Also kiely knows best and I think he's getting better and better with the more minutes he's playing but slight worry peter casey might overdo it on that leg. The round Robin is gruelling, you don't want him going backwards as we could lose him for the season

They've replaced great players nearly every year they won all Irelands. Lynch hannon,finn, casey x2.

It makes next weekend very interesting. If Waterford win or even take a point they will come with something to play for. As importantly it will mean Cork will have to go strong against Clare.
We were very professional ( for want of a better word) in how we went about the first half yesterday. We really silenced the crowd and gave them nothing to get behind at all. That was probably the most comfortable I've been amongst Clare supporters in Ennis ever.

Tactically you got it spot on. Dropped the halfback line and snuffed out the space for the Clare forwards whenever Clare had possession.

You need a really hard working midfield and half forward line to do that. Everyone else too but those 5 are key to a sitting half back line. It will be interesting to see if Reidy comes back into the team when lynch does. Darragh is a very different midfielder to Cian. He sits and fills the holes. Reidy tends to do that too.

Indeed! Both DOD and Reidy do so much unseen, silent work. Basically, putting themselves where the opposition doesn't want them to be, whether Limerick has the ball or not.
