The credibility of the Nobel Peace Prize is seriously under question now with the latest recipient sycophantically "sharing" her peace prize with Trump , clearly with the intention of massaging his ego in the hope that he will put her in power in Venezuela.

This current White House administration is like an episode of South Park. It would be hilarious if it was not so serious.

Things are deteriorating on a daily basis.
Don't think there has ever been a more important midterm election in my lifetime. If the Democrats do make substantial gains, will the sitting President respect the results? If he rides roughshod over them what will happen then?

I'm not sure it would make any difference. I don't hear any of the "others, the radical, lunatic left wingers" coming out and saying they would undo say the annexation of Greenland.

Nobody ever asks what right does Denmark have to Greenland?
it's funny 'Europe' can't defend itself without help from America and NATO is nothing without the USA's military power, yet some European leaders think they can defend Greenland against America?
The way the Arctic is opening up for oil exploration etc and who knows what else lies under the Greenland ice, I'm sure the Americans and others know what mineral wealth is there an if they don't develop it the Chinese or Russians will likely be eyeing it up.
Never a dull day with President Trump anyway, I'd say he has some laugh at the likes of Starmer. He plays them like a fiddle.

Question to the floor.

Is there a concerned similarity between Mr. T's take on Greenland as of now, and Mr. P's take on the Eukrain of 2 years ago ish. Or is it just coincidental. ?

I think the Greenlanders have always expressed their wish for independence, but they are saying they would prefer Denmark to the US. I'm not sure how strong their economy would be to go it alone which might have been a factor with them remaining tied to Denmark for so long.

Authoritarian leaders become emboldened by the exploits of fellow travellers

What right does anyone have to anything? It belongs to Denmark end of story. I'd say there's some lads here who would be delighted to see Ireland become the 51st state.

And they found themselves dancing reels and jigs to the sound of the Bothy Band, and Authoritarian leaders doing simplistic puzzles got from the wicklow people etc, etc.

The way it's going, it won't be long before Trump tells us he needs Shannon Airport for operational purposes. And who would stop him if he really wanted it. It's not as a far fetched thought as people think. Bizzare and unprecedented times.

Already using it for operational reasons anyway

The Brits have occupied our country for hundreds of years for "strategic" reasons. If we put up with that non one is going to take the Irish state seriously on any matter.

Afraid this one is a bit over my head, my friend. But, no doubt there is some sense in there somewhere.

Funny that. Myself and a few friends were discussing that very scenario yesterday. It's not beyond the realms of possibility. This guy has no filters

Very different to actually coming in and securing the building for operational purposes. Forget about heading to Tenerife on your jollies from Shannon. US property. Military airport.
