Carrick 7 or 8 points the better team but got what the deserved. Playing hold ball and taking wrong options. Too cute for their own good. Emyvale to a lesser extent reaped what the sowed on Saturday. The keeper's mistake was only the last nail in the coffin. Should have had game well wrapped up before that.

The biggest issue with this was that a double header was scheduled for Omagh in late November - anyone with an ounce of sense should have known that you couldn't rely on that surface. The 2nd biggest issue was that the decision to call the game off wasn't taken before the game - conditions were bad enough already, for the decision to be made then. As it is, Joe left it til half time when one side has a decent lead and it leaves that side feeling very aggrieved. If the call was made before the game, I'm sure both sets of management would have completely understood Just incredible levels of ineptitude across the board patk (Monaghan) - Posts: 950 - 24/11/2025 10:26:45 2645853 Link 1 |

In fairness, nothing to do with the split season. Even before the split season was introduced, the provincial club championships were played through to end November/early December, before the All-Ireland semi-finals and finals took place in the New Year. If you don't want them this time of year, what are your proposals re. playing them at some other time of year, and how do you work the entire inter-county and club county championships around those proposals? Main issue leading to yesterday's abandonment was the dubious decision to have double-headers. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 3252 - 24/11/2025 10:52:54 2645857 Link 0 |

Poor decision to start the game IMO, not like there wasn't any evidence available around potential playing conditions, having witnessed a full game and a half before hand, where the ball wouldn't bounce off the surface, add that to a simple look a the rainfall radar, it should have been a no brainer and a call made at the end of normal time in the first match. The correct decision was eventually and belatedly arrived at. mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1085 - 24/11/2025 12:59:34 2645884 Link 0 |

Scotstown may have felt aggrieved yesterday but hearing that Ryan O'Toole suspension has been served and he is free to play this weekend. Big boost for them after the disappointment of yesterday. madformonaghan (Monaghan) - Posts: 11 - 24/11/2025 13:14:46 2645890 Link 0 |

The issue too is that when David McCague asked JMcQ after the game had he inspected it before the game he said he hadn't. Then you have Michael Geoghegan preaching after the game how experienced he is … but not that experienced how to assess the pitch before. If it was a dry day I think Scotstown would wipe them easily. Scotstown went man to man on defence and Newbridge had the wind first half. Expect a 5/6 point victory next weekend veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 894 - 24/11/2025 13:33:18 2645901 Link 0 |

Obviously you were sitting on the highstool again or you would have seen the ref inspecting the pitch before the game. Also the pitch was safe to play on at that stage. Again if you were at the game you would have noticed the the incessant rain that fell in the first half making the pitch unsafe to continue on. You, along with the other guys coming on here spoofing about fixtures and split seasons are a laugh. If you want all football played in Summer months then the only answer is for clubs to play without their county players. Good luck with getting that over the line.

Christ that jersey is an ugly one. Looks simple enough and not much of a change but whatever small details they did change they made it worse. Jjoniel79 (Monaghan) - Posts: 249 - 24/11/2025 15:46:15 2645928 Link 1 |

Just in for a Emyvale man that Eoin and Benny Lennon are parting way from Emyvale and this was announced after the game at food….. who will be next in line there? BarneytheDino (Monaghan) - Posts: 5 - 24/11/2025 15:49:03 2645930 Link 0 |

Not surprised at this to be honest. Emyvale will be hurting for a long time over Saturday. Injured players or not they still had enough quality on the field to win the game if they had of shared the ball around a bit more and found players in better positions. Was in Roslea myself and Benny in particular was very aggrieved with some of the players for options they took at certain times

If TG4 hadn't been covering the game live. Joe Wouldn't have felt obliged to try and get the game played.

Only Scotstown still playing football. Manager rumours starting to swirl now! I'd imagine Eoin is happy enough to get Emyvale back into Intermediate and move on. I'd say McCague's time is up unless Scotstown get Ulster.Such is their dominance in Monaghan anything less is another failure. Andy Callan will probably stay with Carrick. He did well to get them a championship. McEnaney will still be over Corduff whether in name or not. Can Mousie combine Blayney and u20s? Aughnamullen must be an attractive proposition for someone if Mickey Conlon goes. Gary Calvert taking Rockcorry, Tony Graham back with Oram, Matthew Lambe with Drumhowan and Donal Quigley back with Currin in Junior. Anyone heard any other gossip? I highly doubt matthew Lambe would be going for a junior post after winning gaining promotion with a middle of the road intermediate team, who are still senior on the back of himself and Darren bishops excellent work. After being with development squads also and having his name in the hat for the minor job that would be a serious regression. I suppose we will wait and see. Martin mills to Ballybay the talk is.
