Replying To The_analyser:  "Castlerea v Padraig Pearses U18 Division 1 decider finalky has date and venue confirmed

Saturday 25th Oct at 12 in Enfield.

The rumours that it might be a double header with the senior final on Sunday 26th hasn't become a reality.

First official game for Mark Dowd will be Leitrim in the FBD followed by a match with Mayo. Would like to think county grounds will be used for those matches but I don't hold out hope for that and I wouldn't be surprised if a competition ran by the Connacht GAA isn't played on the outdoor pitches in Bekan."
I can certainly see them playing the Finals in Bekan.
Hopefully the 2 League rounds will be in County grounds giving each team a home fixture.

Junior A final result St Croans 1-13 Ballinameen 0-7.

Routine win for Croans, got off to ideal start leading by 6 points in the opening 12 minutes and never looked back after that as led by 5 at half time and restricted Ballinameen to just 2 points 2nd half.

Their young players and county U20s Alan Conroy,Eoin Collins showed well as did Ryan Hanley. The more experienced Cathal Connelly,Aidan Brogan,Ross Timothy also stood out. Best of luck to them in the Connnacht championship against Sligo opposition I believe.

As for Ballinameen end of a good year for them, probably exceeded expectations to reach the final and today a bridge too far for them. Keane,Carlos,Wynne among those that showed well today.

Absolute disgrace that all our County finals and I'm including women's finals aren't played in the Hyde. For Gaelic people it's the ultimate snub to their efforts to support their clubs. Also another kick in the teeth to the business community of the town. Parking facilities no problem in Ros Town and a great atmosphere on finals day with supporters walking to their County ground for the respective final games in the respective grades.

Cant have double headers as only 2 dressing rooms.
Pitch maintenance works July/August means reduced use.

It would be nice to see Eire Og make the break through but fancy Strokestown to prevail.

It's a pity the divisional team experiment wasn't done a bit better. Would have been interesting to see how Cox got on in the senior championship.

On the management it seems like it's very likely Daly and Rogers as backroom. That leaves probably one more main coaching position. You would hope that they can get someone shrewd with inter county experience.

If Éire Og go on to lose this Intermediate final they'll look back at that first half with regret. Just two scores one two pointer in a 0-3 score line. 7 Wides and three kicked short.

Strokestown six scores (a couple of two pointers in a 0-8 score) and just two wides.

Strokestown back to senior grade 2-13 to 0-15. Game was in the balance until Compton got 2 points and sub Evan Moran got a 2nd goal late on. Conor Cox with two consolation two pointers to cut a 8 point gap to 4 at the end but will be very disappointed with their shooting on the day.

Have reached the end of another good Intermediate championship my team of the year.

Colm Lavin (Eire OG) former county keeper was the most consistent performer at number 1 this year. And that was the case in his last two games by preventing goals with 3 one on one saves v Michael's and another two against Strokestown today.

David Neary (Strokestown) all round solid showing by the ex county player, not only with his defending but also some excellent passes into the forward line to create scores

Denis Barron (Eire OG) did well on all his markers including Diarmuid McGann in the final.

Eoin Ward (Fuerty) his club reached the semi final and pushed Strokestown all the way, Eoin a player of real pace and skill and has to be on the radar for the county senior panel

Colm Neary (Strokestown) another player with lots of pace and energy, made his county senior debut this year and has a bright future ahead of him so long as he keeps injury free.

Enda Crawley (Eire Og) another solid performer for the runners up and did well in his new role at number 6

Ruadhan Henry (Michaels) very impressive year for the county U20 player as 0-17 he scored in this campaign

Sean Mullooly (Strokestown) roamed from midfield to defence and can't pick a team without one Strokestowns stand out players.

Ronan Cahill (Eire OG) has developed into a fine player for his club and even in the final he won plenty of possession for his team.

Ronan Dowd (Creggs) his club hit a wall in the knock out stages against Strokestown but no fault to him as he scored 1-36 in the championship

Fiachra Henry (Michaels) Mr consistent for his club. 3-16 he scored and set up plenty more scores

Keith Murphy (Strokestown) saved hid best performance for the final with 1-3 more of creator than scorer before today but a good championship From the former county underage player

Kevin Finn (Strokestown) more scores from him in the semi final but his link up play and leadership was good all championship

Diarmuid McGann (Strokestown) well marked in the final but still finished 2nd top scorer in the championship with 3-31

Conor Cox (Éire Og) Top scorer in the championship with 0-64. 21 two pointers and 11 points in final. Supporting cast will need to help out more if they are to go one better next year

Others I considered Niall Curley,Dylan Owens,Colin Compton James Greene,Jason Doory (Éire Og) Cian Murray,Gearóid Ennis (fuerty) Robert Gillespie (Michaels) Evan Corcoran (Shannon Gaels) Dylan Gaughan (Tuisk)

What would happen this weekend in the event of a draw? Westport and Ballina have to go again next week. I think I much prefer it being finished on the day

Their scoring return for the amount of ball they won was so poor. They will be sickened and left too much of the scoring up to Cox. Fair play to Strokestown, they should be one of the stongest outfits in Connacht if they keep their eye on the ball. Intermediate is such a slog to get out of and Dominics coming down won't make things any easier.
