Weather doesn't look great but some good games this weekend jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1675 - 12/09/2025 12:56:28 2635852 Link 0 |
I hope it works out for Mr Joyce. But given his past performance. It will be unlikely. Connacht football tend to do the "Big time Charlie" thing. Whereby some players and managers are untouchable. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2658 - 12/09/2025 12:59:01 2635854 Link 1 |

PJ didn't listen to CON in games too often, certainly not in any key championship games where CON had to take up position well away from PJ, effectively down with the backs, rather than shoulder to shoulder working together in-game like CON visibly was so successfully with Jack O'Connor this year. Jack is old enough and wise enough to know you need a very smart, tactically astute sounding board alongside you - and one that doesn't need to be a yes man but rather to tell you what might be needed at key points in a game. In Kerry, you're not allowed to be an unchallenged ego, you have to listen and work with lads just as good if not better than you. PJs in-game management needs improvement and really listening to a Donaghy or whoever comes in will be critical this year.

Mathew Reddington from Dunmore McHales with another player of the match and cracking performance today, definitely one of the standout players in the championship. Can a player like him who is 29/30 push onto a county panel for this first time or does this ever happen? Should Galway be looking at this type of player? Football championship came alive this weekend. Some brilliant games. Even in the terrible weather. Marooned (Galway) - Posts: 2421 - 14/09/2025 19:05:44 2636123 Link 0 |

And yet the 4 senior winners this weekend will likely all exit in a fortnight at the qfinals. With that in mind?, it's surely debatable about the degree to which this weekend 'enlivened' the championship in an overall context.

Good competitive games will always enliven a championship. If you're only focused on the final outcome, you're missing a lot. We had some cracking games yesterday and today, with late drama in quite a few of them. Given the difficult conditions, I have to commend most of the teams involved. Intermediate looks very open again and we have some quarter-finals which look very hard to call. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2528 - 14/09/2025 22:24:41 2636173 Link 0 |
