" natural full forwards " well thats your opinion, and you are entitled to that of course. No doubt if any player in the last few matches had SHOWN to be a natural forward at this level then of course putting Flanagan in would not be appropriate. In that case you would not upset something that is working. Then Flanagan would have to wait to get to full fitness to return to Midfield which appears to be his "natural" position

Look the Flanagan at 14 idea just aint gonna happen!! I doubt he's will be a starter..but he will be an option from the bench!!

'As things stand at the moment if Andy Mcentee selected a team that were only from Ratoath & Ashbourne it would probably be capable of beating any other team that could be selected in the county! Obviously its a hypothetical situation, but an interesting one. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 19/02/2017 10:36:14 1958158 Link 8 |
Who would you have from Simonstown? Tobin is all ready on the panel, from what I hear Kane and McKeever were asked but couldn't commit to work/college. Maybe Burlingham could have been the second keeper instead of Hannigan but I trust in the management to choose the better keeper after seeing them in training and challenges over the last few months. Who would you like on the team from O'Mahonys? O'Coilean and Forde are on it, maybe O'Reilly could have been given another chance but I'm not sure what other players could come into the county panel. Barney123 (Meath)- I'm not saying who should be on a county team or not on a team as I would guess that they guys managing the county setup know best. My response was to the previous poster with a counter suggestion to MEATHTECH1243 that the pick of the two teams who won the last few championships should be at least equal to the two other clubs that he mentioned-maybe they are not. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 19/02/2017 14:49:06 1958224 Link 8 |
Why do you think Flanagan will be better than the players who have actually played at full forward in the last 2 games and actually play full forward for their clubs?

I am have been at all the matches this year. To my mind Sheridan is simply not up to it. I have also seen him on trial before for Meath. However, some posters here say he is . I will be more than happy to admit i was wrong when Sheridan SHOWS us he is at the required standard. Lenihan maybe deserves another shot as he can be ok with frees just about. Flanagan would also be on trial at 14 . Absolutely nothing cast in stone. In fact only COS , Reilly and maybe Forde can be reasonably sure of a place in the forwards. This poster has to SEE players deliver the goods ,rather than just LISTEN to praise from their fans .

This argument could go on until the cows come home! So let's leave it and see what team is picked for the next match? Just out of interest what team woukd you pick "no bull" ??

When your possible relegation candidates you can't be trialing players, that's for the O'Byrne cup. We had this discussion after the Derry game and most posters agreed that Sheridan was good and Lenihan missed 2 or 3 handy frees in that game so don't know why your talking about him as a free taker.

Ideally of course thats right...Question so who will take the frees that we can reasonably rely on? Lenihan was poor last match no question, but good against Kildare.Only worth a shot because we have nobody else..he has to prove he is worth it ...if not ..gone . Ideally all questions should be answered after OByrne cup,but you know that is not the case I am prepared to leave it all to Andy. I think he made all the right decisions last day ,against a weak team admittedly

Lenihan certainly deserves another shot in the league. Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 789 - 19/02/2017 19:32:21 1958368 Link 0 |
Lenihan worth another chance against Down, hopefully he nails an early free to boost confidence. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2214 - 19/02/2017 19:53:18 1958375 Link 8 |
I think Lenihan deserves another chance of course he is still getting to grips with intercounty football but once gets a little confidence in himself I think we will have a seriously good corner forward on our hands so just give him time. I also like sound of the Conlon chap from the Cillies sounds like he is a serious talent which is great for the county team l. I think for the we should for the Down game something llike this Foreveraroyal (Meath) - Posts: 34 - 19/02/2017 20:57:19 1958407 Link 0 |
Good team!! don't know a whole lot about Lavin, Brian Power has ablilty but I could see why you would drop him

Toher should take long range frees from the ground imo.

Your first post and your picking a good realistic team, well done. Anyone know if Harnan played for Moynalvey today? I never see match reports from them but if he did play surely he will be ready for our next game?

im not sure Andy has much confidence in lavin at this level, mickey burke was black carded against Kildare, this presumably would have been the time to put him but he opted for david mcquilan instead and against louth mickey burke was replaced at half time for ruairi o'caoilean

Not sure about my own clubman yet young Lavin, good footballer but hasn't done enough to nail down position. Melia from Ashbourne is best CHB I have seen for awhile, we played them in Feis cup and he was the stand out player, I think Andy could do with him on the team. Don't think Sheridan is the answer at FF too slow and doesn't make runs. Thought McEntee really upped his game v Derry deserves another shot at wing back. heard Mickey Newman could be more long term, has gone for scans and stuff. Tormey no longer on Panel needs operation on ankle and cannot take time out from work to have done, see he scored 1-3 for club in A league so still has a lot to offer but was taken off before end because of ongoing ankle problems.

Ok never thought I'd write this but Graham Reilly should not start in this game, the man gave a fantastic performance yesterday and showed player of the year a clean pair of heels along with it. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 20/02/2017 18:34:13 1958828 Link 0 |
With this in mind I would make one change, joey Wallace for Downey, and see how we go
