Replying To riverboys:  "2010 v Longford poor Mayo attendance, that was a protest, people were not happy with management, the season ticket policy is a huge factor behind large attendance, for example there is suppose to be between 3500-5000 Mayo season ticket holders, now if some can't go to a game then somebody else may go in their place, that game may ignite a fire inside and that person may enjoy the game so the next game they will go and either buy their ticket through their club or pay at the gate (League games) and the crowd grows, the GAA should be promoting season tickets for every county, all they have to say is your money for season tickets goes towards your county team and builds for the future, instead everybody believes season ticket money goes down the GAA pockets and not spent in your county"
You have a point there but the potential all ireland final ticket is a huge selling point as can been seen by the big demands in the likes of dublin and mayo. It very hard to sell a decent amount with out that.

Maybe the reason people feel that way is there was about 2 to 1 in favour of roscommon. There was clearly more sligo then mayo at the connacht final speaking as someone who was at the game as a neutral

In 2011 mayo went in as underdogs which is wht there was very little support it was a wet day but there has been equally wet days in all ireland finals that alot of mayos turned up. You must not have been at either quarter final if you think it was anywhere near to 50-50

ROS1 - I haven't missed a Mayo championship game since the Fermanagh semi replay in 2004 due to a family wedding.

I was very impressed with the Cork support in round 1 vs tipp. A lot of doom and gloom surrounding them but the fans turnout out big time. And their turnouts against Waterford, clare and Waterford again were all very impressive.

It's a pity more counties like tipp, Waterford, clare and limerick don't have cities the size of Cork. Every munster championship match would be sold out if they did.

Haha very funny! honestly though, do you think more or less will come up from kerry for this? It's Sunday the day after so that makes it more appealing when you've no work the next day.

A good attendance of 53,032 at yesterdays All-Ireland replayed football semi-final, Kerry v Mayo.

The attendance at todays All-Ireland U21 Hurling Final, Limerick v Kilkenny was 15,485.

Attendance would probably be closer to 25,000 if played today (Sunday). However, a clash with the camogie finals would have CLG under a concerted attack from the PC brigade in the media and elsewhere. Hard to understand why the Under 21 players who have given their all throughout the season should have their final relegated to a Saturday.

There was 31,745 at the u21 Final in 2001 (Wexford v Limerick), also played in Thurles, on a day when Tipp were playing in Croke Park in the Senior Camogie Final

They could have played the game as part of the camogie finals as they have done in the past. I am not sure KK GAA would have wanted to annoy their supporters with forcing them to choose. But U21's have played their finals in the past durign Camogie finals.

fantastic limerick support we had around 14k there today, when you think there was probably around 7/8 k at munster game same day, mostly limerick based fans, thats 20k limerick people out of a population of 200k watching sport, thats pretty good going

The under 21 football final is nearly always played on a Saturday as well. Are the u 21 hurling semI finals. Are you going to blame the women for that as well?

Happy to, if you wish ROSI. I believe the drawn 2006 Under 21 Final between Kilkenny and Tipp was played before the Camogie final in Croke Park., The replay took place the following Saturday in Semple Stadium and I'm pretty sure it drew as large an attendance as the two games did in Croke Park.
Yes, Camogie and Ladies football have their followers but greater numbers prefer to watch hurling and football. I do not believe it right to deny male players of minor and junior standards the thrill of playing before major senior games to accommodate Camogie and Ladies football games. We continue to hear females saying they want to play before (or after?) the men's games to give greater publicity to their games.
To be given that right would, I believe, be discriminatory to our men's team. If marketed right the ladies could easily gain plenty of sponsorship and thereby get businesses to promote their games. It seems they want to take the lazy and easy route to promote their games and at the expense of the men's games.
If a Saturday at 3pm is the best time to play the Under 21 finals, that is fine. However, the time and day should not be decided to ensure these glamour finals do affect in any way the women's final's quests for publicity and higher attendance figures.

Hurling is suppose to be dead in Ulster yet the attendance a week ago at the Ulster Hurling 1st Round Slaughneill v Dunloy was 6150. Yesterday the Ulster Football 1st Round Slaughneill v Kilcoo (the stand out fixture of the Ulster Championship) had an attendance of 4000. What is going on?

How many Mayo supporters are attending their local club games now that the dust has settled? I work with 4 guys who are Mayo men and religious Mayo supporters and who know their county team inside out. When I asked each of them a couple of weeks ago what teams were left in the Mayo senior championship they couldn't answer me, and 2 of them didn't even know how many teams were in the senior championship nor how many groups they were divided into. Where are the thousands who spend a fortune on season tickets, travel, accommodation and food to follow the county through league and championship?
