Anyone know the make up of the 2018 Clare hurling panel so many retirements and they haven't been replaced as far as i can see This panel of players running out of time to add another all Ireland. Don't know anything about new coach and i might be very unfair on him but i thought that we would be attracting a man with more experience & profile. Watched some of that Tournament in Boston and while it was just that " a tournament" it was good to start the year well and we matched Galway in the physical stakes good to see some new talent added Dara Corry Ryan Taylor got game time Rory Hayes of Wolfe Tones was superb when he came on Tots as usual beautiful skill Peter Duggan the star performer Galway coulden't handle him at all. I hope that selectors have a good luck to see if a few players can be brought on to Inter County level as some of the team of 13 are not the players they were back then. Jason McCarthy is a player that could make a County man but would need to be a lot more disciplined Rory Hayes could make a break through as well the likes of Bobby Duggan would want to nail a place soon as well and if Dara Corry who is a big physical player who has skill gets a decent run we would options of big men up front with skill alongside Shane O Donnell & Conor McGrath Finally both goalies yesterday were very good for me Touhy is the best shotstopper and he should nail his place with Kelly @ no 2 clooney (Clare) - Posts: 984 - 20/11/2017 15:11:01 2063093 Link

That game in Boston isn't hurling. It's like non touch and suits the Clare players. No high fielding either. I think Clare still have some very good players but not enough of them. What is wrong with someone from Killanena or Scariff? Are you suggesting people have to be from certain clubs to manage Clare? Loughnane was from Feakle, thankfully nobody thought that meant he couldn't manage the team or else we would be still in the doldrums. Give the lads a chance and stop talking negative every time you post Boru, its getting very tiresome. Really sorry for Shanagher, it is an awful injury but he is young and can come back, podge collins and a good few more did it so it can be done. Best of luck to him with the recovery. He played many years as an excellent forwards for the Clare seniors,and did a great job on the parish level with very limited resources. Reading in Clare Champion that more Clare Players are leaving the panel due to injury/travel/jobs Colm Galvin apparently going to Dubai cant blame him money there is fantastic and with how young teachers are treated here Cian Dillon also taking time out as well as Aaron Cunningham. I disagree that we are in such a bad position. Clare's development since 2013 has certainly been hindered by poor tactics and a lack of discipline, and it is true that defensively we are now a bit stretched. Also, too much pressure has been put on the young 'stars' of the team. Changes certainly have to be made to the teams being put out (but the current panel is sound to do this from), and concentration should be put on building lines or units rather than on individual roles, and no-one's place on the team should be guaranteed. There are a lot of hungry lads now in their prime who have never been given a decent chance. Personally, I would like to see a team along the lines of this being given a crack in the league. Nugent, Flanagan, O'Connor, McCarthy, McInerney, Cleary, Morey, Fitzgerald, Reidy, Peter Duggan, Shanahan, Ian Galvin, O'Donnell, Conlon, Cathal McInerney. I would like to see Cleary given a run at full back or perhaps David Fitzgerald Cleary not the greatest hurler ever but good on high ball and good at holding off the man Seanha Morey such a versatile hurler and you need speedy corner backs now a days but i think that with his drive and dash midfield might be his spot. clooney (Clare) - Posts: 984 - 18/12/2017 11:13:15 2065497 Link

There's no stand out goalie in Clare. I remember my dad talking of Durack and Fitzy. The 3 main pretenders for the number 1 jersey all lack something serious.
