No doubt about it but Clare are the team to beat in 2018..... hoppingball (Galway) - Posts: 963 - 20/11/2017 23:59:00 2063141 Link 0 |
If Clare manage to muster up a decent challenge this year I 'll take my hat off to them. That game in Boston isn't hurling. It's like non touch and suits the Clare players. No high fielding either. I think Clare still have some very good players but not enough of them. I'd have to put them 4th, just behind Limerick for the Munster Championship. Yere management team are not up to the job.

Well things go from bad to worse for Clare hurling. Dynamic forward Shanaher is out for the year.Anthony Daly takes a lucratiVE JOB WITH a local Dublin hurling team and we get a KILLANENA and Scariff men to run our Clare team. THAT IS NOT MY IDEA OF PROGRESS!!!!!!!!!!

What is wrong with someone from Killanena or Scariff? Are you suggesting people have to be from certain clubs to manage Clare? Loughnane was from Feakle, thankfully nobody thought that meant he couldn't manage the team or else we would be still in the doldrums. To ask for some positive reports on behalf of the Clare hurlers is not being negative,.where a person ts born has nothing to do with his ability.LOUGHNANE came from Feakle a parish that produced an amount of great hurlers, and it was his ability proven over many years that caused him to be chosen to lead Clare

How about another Feakle man, Val Donnelan to manage the Clare senior team. He played many years as an excellent forwards for the Clare seniors, and did a great job on the parish level with very limited resources. I would love to see him given a shot.

I disagree that we are in such a bad position. Clare's development since 2013 has certainly been hindered by poor tactics and a lack of discipline, and it is true that defensively we are now a bit stretched. Also, too much pressure has been put on the young 'stars' of the team. Changes certainly have to be made to the teams being put out (but the current panel is sound to do this from), and concentration should be put on building lines or units rather than on individual roles, and no-one's place on the team should be guaranteed. There are a lot of hungry lads now in their prime who have never been given a decent chance. Personally, I would like to see a team along the lines of this being given a crack in the league. Fahey is a decent goalie with a massive puck out and a good long range free taker.... hoppingball (Galway) - Posts: 963 - 23/12/2017 10:20:17 2065919 Link 0 |
There's no stand out goalie in Clare. I remember my dad talking of Durack and Fitzy. The 3 main pretenders for the number 1 jersey all lack something serious. It's embarrassing how bad the puck outs were last year..a pitch 60 yards wide still not big enough to keep it from going over the sideline PeggyShippen (Limerick) - Posts: 300 - 29/12/2017 17:05:53 2066167 Link 0 |
