Like all the Limerick posters, I'm backing Clare on Sunday. I'm already getting tired of listening to Cork supporters and the din from the south of the border will be deafening if they win on Sunday. It's a massive hurling county and they will travel in vast numbers like the Mongolian hordes of the past but I don't think they are good enough. It's going to be a severe test for their younger players who won nothing underage (mainly because of Limerick) to cope with that pressure against a relatively experienced Clare side. I think if Clare play well - they will win. Dealer (Limerick) - Posts: 837 - 07/07/2017 21:57:57 2012168 Link 0 |
Niall Deasy has zero senior intercounty experience so not sure how you can make that comment. I am delighted with that team as that is pretty much the team I have asked for all year. We need two physical players in the half forward line and now we have it. LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2697 - 08/07/2017 03:57:00 2012246 Link 0 |
Expect Morey to play wing back in a swap with O Brien

Hard luck Clare. I think yere tactics were poor. Allowing Cork to take short puck outs was not a good plan. Cork deserved the win, no doubt about that. However I'd be interested in Clare posters opinions on the wides. Is it ok for Tony Kelly to hit 4 or 5 wides every game. Tipp or Kilkenny wouldn't put up with it. He's not on form at all...the penalty was a stinker. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 09/07/2017 18:25:05 2013227 Link 0 |
And I was wrong - again. Clare blew a major opportunity today. Cork led all day so you have to concede that they deserved to win. Q/F is going to be very tough to get back up for.

Clare have great hurlers but too many small men. Morey I would not drop because of his attacking play, and Conor mcgrath. Sheedy (Galway) - Posts: 107 - 09/07/2017 22:35:11 2013490 Link 0 |
Hats off to the rebels with a great mature performance even if they didn't fire on all cylinders and seemed to get stuck in the mud playing a very poor clare side. Closing out the game and being in complete control for 60 minutes overall is impressive. Even more so that this is thier thrid game in a row where they have been so consistnet. doyler5 (Limerick) - Posts: 44 - 10/07/2017 00:05:51 2013576 Link 0 |
It's too early to write Clare off but this group of lads have won 3 championship matches since 2013... those 3 teams they beat are Laois, Offaly and Limerick... Galway and cork twice as well as Limerick has beaten Clare in those four years of early exits. doyler5 (Limerick) - Posts: 44 - 10/07/2017 00:27:01 2013591 Link 0 |
0ur congrats to CORK.They won a well fought game,AND BEAT A clare team that had many stars, but seemed to be missing some very basic directives. It was obvious from the very beginning that they had no plan to haNDLE THE Cork puck outs, and how to place their forwards more effectivelyCOULDthe management not see what was so obvious to everybody.Of course a bit of luck would also have helped!!!But Icould not understand why a free was given against Mcgrath near the end od the game when he was pulled down close to the Cork goal.No matter who we are drawn against in the quarter final,we should be in good shape. I would love another crack at Cork!!!

Cork deserved to win, but we lost the game first 20 mins of second half with crazy wides, dropping balls into nash's hands and missing a sitter. Also to cough up 7 scores direct from short puckouts is unforgivable. Clareman (Clare) - Posts: 1056 - 10/07/2017 10:03:09 2013740 Link 0 |
Cleary is not my cup of tea but he did a good job yesterday. POC went off with a head injury after that terrible blow from Horgan. Doyler im surprised with your analysis of these 2 players. Clareman (Clare) - Posts: 1056 - 10/07/2017 10:05:29 2013747 Link 0 |
no its not ok for kelly to hit 4 or 5 a game, or galvin either. Conor McGrath made excellent runs and got very little ball. Clareman (Clare) - Posts: 1056 - 10/07/2017 10:07:54 2013751 Link 0 |
Admittedly I was a bit harsh in some of my post and I forgot poc took that heavy hit. It was probably a red card for Horgan too tbh. Agree with your point clareman about the lack of faith the management had in other players. Very strange as were the tactical changes. But saying that, as spectators we watch the players picked. Players were picked yesterday to start so I don't think they weren't fit. David mc had less training done than those two you mentioned. Podge is good enough talent wise but he has been a shadow of his former self. Jason mc Carthy needs to start imo. He's an athlete and can hurl. No he's not a man marker but when a team has 3-4 top class players in the forwards you can't have a man market in there who looks lost in overall play. Cleary and o brien don't have enough hurling. When it really really counts, they will be targeted time and time again like yesterday. Cleary settled when galvin effectively went back there to play sweeper but I would bite the billet and play mc Inerney there. Fahy, morey, Dillion, poc, mc Carthy, mc I and d fitz, galvin and malone, Conlon, Kelly, reidy, mc Grath, o Donnell and shangher That would be the team I'd pick against tipp. Let the lads have a go. It's seems like there is a fear there with this anti hurling defensive crap. They are either good enough or not. Tipp will be a savage test for them. That full forward line of callanan, bubbles and mc Grath with bonner back too will be crazy hard to contain doyler5 (Limerick) - Posts: 44 - 10/07/2017 10:42:56 2013802 Link 0 |
Thank God for Ger Loughnane who says it as it is management done believe in players they have so they devise stupid tactics if you had an under 10 clooney (Clare) - Posts: 984 - 10/07/2017 11:24:43 2013845 Link 1 |
i reckon doyler that team you picked wont be far off what is picked for Tipp game. Clareman (Clare) - Posts: 1056 - 10/07/2017 11:36:14 2013856 Link 0 |
surely not Cathal Malone two great chances MISSED hard to see how Donal Maloney thought he was superb ,4 forwards on panel miles agead off him P Duggan Niall Deasy {best club forward in Ireland 2016/2017 Aaron Cunningham Cathal McInerney even Jamie Shanaghan has loads of hurling This management are looking every bit as bad as the last one fans will skeap with their feet clooney (Clare) - Posts: 984 - 10/07/2017 12:00:18 2013885 Link 0 |
guess Sheedy your preference would be for Galway to advance through the back door (as they are not used to going direct to the semi-final and it won't suit them), well 2012 they went straight to the final and could/should have won whereas every other year through the back-door they failed to win the ultimate prize - I believe a winning streak and team confidence will see the through, probably Tipperary in the semifinal and a repeat of the league final and Wexford in the final and a repeat of the Leinster final - Gaillimh Abu !!

bring back Daly - these two codgers from U21 days are as bad as Davy - what works underage rarely works at senior where inter county teams are selecting their 26 best hurlers, athletes, strength, power, some may be 18/19 and others 33/34 - ye shouldn't have promoted them based on underage success, there are significantly better hurlers in Clare than the 15 starters, Galvin should never be a sweeper, Pat O'Connor is not a corner back, Davy McI is not a full back, the current half-back line are not up to standard (compare them to Doyle, Seanie and Daly) - Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor were the wrong choice and have little idea on how to significantly change the mess Davy has created, significant surgery is required quickly before the unique talents are lost forever - Loughnane was right when he said 2013 was the "greatest fluke of all time" just like he said of Galway being "spineless", Micheal Donoghue is working to build a spine in Galway but Moloney and O'Connor are not brave enough to take the big decisions - decision 1 to send DOgC back to Cork - wishing our neighbours well TouchOfClass (Galway) - Posts: 730 - 10/07/2017 13:33:37 2014015 Link 0 |
