Whatever about the curse of '51 the '13 final is the one that will haunt this Mayo team if they don't land the holy grail. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 8784 - 21/08/2016 18:29:45 1903990 Link 0 |
I'd say they'd love to get rid of the ghosts of 97, 04 and 06 too. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13796 - 21/08/2016 18:36:44 1904002 Link 0 |
Ahem. The current Mayo side have been on the road for the holy grail since '11. The '13 final is the big one that got away. It was there for them. They know it. It'll haunt this current side if they don't succeed.

Can't see an All Ireland in them based on anything I've observed so far in 2016. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 21/08/2016 18:59:22 1904021 Link 0 |

Call a spade a spade , they've had terrible form but still they persist. Everyone thought we would run away with it too and look what happened.I'm putting my money on them to do it this year just because they are unpredictable and trying to predict an unpredictable team isn't possible. On the day Mayo could see sam 70mins from them and turn on their inner rage and shock the Dubs.

No this Mayo team missed their chance, if they ever had one, TirChonaillabu2 (Donegal) - Posts: 344 - 21/08/2016 19:43:51 1904072 Link 0 |

Sorry lads this is Mayo's year. Mayo though will be hoping the Dubs beat Kerry. Kerry a bogey team. That said Mayo have a new gem in Connor O Shea. He will get goals. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2614 - 21/08/2016 19:56:38 1904086 Link 0 |
Ahh if me aunt had leoroids she would be me uncle. Mayo beat Tyrone by been the better team. And faced a different style of play today. I think the ulster teams are in decline this year and none of them seemed to have the abilities to achieve, I actually think Tipp could have beat either Tyrone or Donegal either this year, there is one team no one will beat and that is Dublin, royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 21/08/2016 20:08:15 1904092 Link 0 |
No this Mayo team missed their chance, if they ever had one, Load of balls. They're in the final. At worst they're 3-1 vs Dublin, probably close to evens vs Kerry. If I were a Mayo fan I'd be pretty happy with those odds. They've one match to win, anything can happen on the day. Especially when they've been a top 3/4 team for the last 5 seasons. No surprise there then from royaldunne and his anti Ulster ramblings.

I remember the old fellas in Kerry saying that Mayo had always one good game in the championship ....well it hasn't happened yet....saving it for the final maybe? kerrykerry (Kerry) - Posts: 1779 - 21/08/2016 20:31:29 1904112 Link 0 |
Not your first childish post having a go at Mayo. Not saying they are the best team but your posts are laughable. If this, if that. Very easy looking back and saying if this and if that. I presume you were saying how unlucky Mayo were in 14 when they had no luck against Kerry, especially with the ref? I presume you were asking if this and if that back then? I doubt it. Mayo are in the top 3 teams on form and probably 3rd best at the moment but they are in the final again, so tough shit Paddy as Christy Moore would say.

Who was the last Gaelic football team to lose 2 finals and then win 1 within 5 years? Alot of people overlook the mental aspect of this game, if you want proof of it look no further than Tyrone beating Kerry in 2008 Kerry should have won, they had more talent and the lead with 10 to go but Tyrone knew they could beat Kerry and they were the only team to do it at Croke Park in the championship...ignore it if you want but there couldn't be a more obvious example of having the mental hex over a team. Like Kerry and Dublin do against Mayo Seansy48 (Tyrone) - Posts: 237 - 21/08/2016 20:42:03 1904123 Link 0 |
I remember always being told that they were cute hoors in Kerry, coming in under the radar to try and catch the Dubs cold and win Sam again. all the béal bocht threads on here about Kerry's hopeless task against the blue juggernaut, nobody is buying it.

No No they can't exorcise anything, they are ghost collectors, they have a closet full of them. The good thing is this year not even the most delusional Mayo fan could possibly give them a chance and maybe just maybe that is their only hope.
