It's a bit of a silly question. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4532 - 13/08/2016 11:54:13 1900551 Link 1 |

Bernard is one of the great forwards no doubt but people also underestimate how good COC has been. Yes he hasn't won the big one but that certainly is not his fault, he has carried Mayo in the past. Also COC has just turned 24, Brogan only made his debut at 22 unless someone can correct me. So can we at least look at where they are career wise! Hard to compare them. Brogan is older and has more experience. O'Connor is such a prominent player for Mayo and emerged under James Horan, which I think makes it easy to forget just how young he still is. Only 23 or thereabouts. Brogan would have a good few years on him. Brogan is better from play, but O'Connor is a brilliant free taker and Mayo's game against Tyrone proved how vital free takers are in the modern game. If Tyrone had a Cillian O'Connor that match might have turned out differently. O'Connor seems to be improving his return from play as well. Mayo don't seem to function quite as well without him either. However if Mayo had a Brogan, they might have an All-Ireland now, who knows. As I say, it's hard to compare. I'd probably have the younger O'Connor over both of them if I'm honest. ZeitChrist (UK) - Posts: 154 - 13/08/2016 18:03:00 1900619 Link 0 |
This is like comparing Fenton with Darragh O'Shea... wrong points of their careers to be any way valid. Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 13/08/2016 22:08:30 1900697 Link 0 |
