Knew Meath would win this so I heavily backed them at 3/1. Did the same with Limerick footballers making a tidy profit. Betting against Antrim is like printing money since we're such a shambles in both codes. M Lyster (Antrim) - Posts: 467 - 25/06/2016 19:55:18 1871947 Link 0 |
Good for them to play at that higher standard to see were they are at.

One thing I want to say is congratulations to Antrim on a fine display, you were beaten by the better team on the day, no shame in that, but even more importantly you handled yourselves with extreme dignity after the shambles of the ineptitude of HQ, and their pathetic attempts to pit both counties against each other in a slagging / blaming match. For that you' will always be remembered, both counties have given the hurling game of the year (shame on tg4 for not showing it). Hard luck to you but I'm sure you wont mind us getting this one, hopefully next year we both in McCarthy competition. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 25/06/2016 20:21:59 1871967 Link 1 |
Great win, fairplay to both team for putting on a fantastic show and hard luck to Antrim. The Meath Hurlers played with plenty of pride and passion and never gave up, just like our footballers of old, hopefully our current crop of footballers can shown the same passion and determination tomorrow! Congratulations to Meath, a deserved win. Shame it wasn't on the TV. One of the games of the year. Glensboy (Antrim) - Posts: 321 - 25/06/2016 20:38:40 1871971 Link 2 |
Well from a betting point of view the game finished a draw so that would be your bet gone would it now? And given that you were so sure of a meath win, you hardly bothered with the outright winners at a lower price.... Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6347 - 25/06/2016 20:49:09 1871975 Link 0 |

given the fact that this FINAL wasn't shown on tv despite the controversy and social media attention it generated should tell you all you need know about why players from smaller counties want nothing to do with a two tier football championship. Well done the Royals but all these comments have missed the burning issue of the day; timmyhogan (UK) - Posts: 290 - 25/06/2016 21:36:10 1872000 Link 0 |
It was clear after the first game that the GAA couldn't give a hoot about teams in the Christy Ring.

Do you all double check score before celebrating just in case they order replay Dellboypolecat (Tyrone) - Posts: 15069 - 25/06/2016 22:24:59 1872033 Link 0 |
true that. They lie like politicians about their support for smaller counties. Actions always speak louder than words.

Brilliant win to get themselves back up for the replay after what happened speaks volumes for the character of the players they were written off twice but proved everyone wrong well done to all involved runnerin (Meath) - Posts: 202 - 26/06/2016 11:57:19 1872196 Link 1 |
