NY GAA 2016

Park has opened but I don't see anything on schedule for this week. Is this a mistake. Heard senior division is at 4 teams again. It's time to dump senior football. With Leitrim and Cavan gone it's not just the same.

I see the schedule has come out for May and once again the NY gaa have done a pitiful job of scheduling having games and league finals on mememorial day weekend. One of the few long weekends of the summer and lads are going to be stuck in Gaelic park playing football what a disgrace

I see that the schedule is out for the month of May and once again the Ny gaa board have done a pitiful job. Having games and league finals on Memorial Day weekend is an absolute joke. Its one off the few weekends where the players can get away and enjoy themselves for a long weekend but instead they'll be in Gaelic park what a disgrace.

You are lucky as soon you will be able to watch games seven days a week in NY. Wish the rest of us were as fortunate.
As for games on the major holiday weekends I cannot see the problem. The holiday weekends are the big days for sports in Ireland and in the US. Most baseball teams play doubleheaders on these dates. Your park opened on April 10th. Three games were played on April 17th and no games since. First Sunday in May is New York v Roscommom. The NY based senior teams will then begin playing on Sunday May 8th. A poster feels that three weeks later the doors should be closed to permit players to go to the beach. They can go on Saturday and Monday or any other combo you wish. With all the teams that are going to Ireland in August I expect games will be played on all holiday weekends. No complaints over the many years regarding the North American Boards play-offs and finals on Labor Day weekend.

Agreed, I have no problem with games over memorial weekend. You can't be shutting down the park for every holiday. There are no games over the 4th July weekend which is fine. After that every weekend should be fair game. Plus there should be higher attendances at the park with people off the Monday and the students arriving.

Probably withdrew from the senior league and considering their options. If they withdraw their senior team from the championship there will be some juicy drafts available.

You would hope that Sunday's performance would give NY GAA the shot in the arm it needs and numbers and interest in club games would increase this summer. Will be bad news if Barnabas drop out of senior.
On one hand, the money men have probably enhanced the quality of players in the city by attracting them here, and therefore increasing the quality of the county team. but on the other hand it is ruining the club game and development of the young American players, especially if the barnabas story is correct.

Westmeath and sligo look strong. Caven are very solid team, they will be big contenders. Intermediate will be very competitive.

Cavanman, was actually surprised myself at how close the senior games were. Donegal and Monaghan must have been missing a lot of players. monaghan were always in control but Donegal Cork game was tight until penalty with a couple of minutes left. Still wondering what penalty was for as referee seems to be the only one in the park who saw it. Maybe it might not be the coronation for Donegal that people think.

monaghan were dominant and could not exploit a very weak kerry side who look like nothing of the sides they have had over the past few years, unfit unorganized and lacking desire. cork and donegal good, cork may be a surprise team this year. donegal will be a different outfit once sanctions and transfers clear
