Heard from boys at work that senior is a double round and all teams making playoffs. I don't really agree with this as no incentive for fans as games are meaningless. Same as junior a last year.

I agree Hawkeye and CrossGaa, the chairman is a fair guy and his hands are tied on a lot of what is going on right now. Him and the board tried a few things that were shot down pretty fast without people thinking about them. And being chairman is a very thankless job, that's probably why the same guys are doing it all the time. No one else wants to take over the reigns and try something different. As far as the gentleman from Donegal sponsoring all the teams and cups throughout the divisions, fair play to him. With all the talk of Donegal being a money team, that man spreads the money all over, so college teams, minor board and junior/senior teams have benefitted. The double round in Senior might not be the answer, but what else could be done?? Hopefully this season turns out to be a good one, to much negativity so far and a ball hasn't been kicked yet. I agree nothing wrong with a double round in senior but maybe have 3 or 4 of the teams qualify for playoffs. As it stands we have all teams qualifying which proved a bad excersise in junior last year.

Agree Sligo, very poor planning on behalf of the board .No bite in the games as a result.They could have the top team go directly to the final and the2nd and 3rd place finishers play a semi. after a double round.

Most championships in any county are based on a qualifying bases. Senior games all year will be a disaster. They should have all teams agree on changing this set up.

imagine attendance at the park will be very poor this summer, games wont matter for much and players will be going through the motions, a very sad and rapid decline for the seniors, intermediates and junior will get my attention this summer

In theory the senior debacle could mean that the likes of Donegal could play all/some of their senior players in the junior division in the early summer and not play a senior game until the playoffs, as they are automatically in the playoffs. Thereby affecting all the junior clubs by Donegal junior being way too strong. Probably will happen to some degree. Play some of their senior men in junior in june/july and upgrade them in playoffs.

yes that can happen. a player is registered to club but not a division. you are right in saying that but cannot see senior players dropping down to junior and moving back up, clubs will bring players up later in the year if needed

I imagine most senior players will not want to play junior but Donegal will be out to win junior too I'm sure and we will see some senior standard players play for their B team

All senior team with exception for Cork have teams in lower grades and will most definetly use this chance to play down til end of August.
Barnabas for junior b
Donegal for junior a
Kerry for intermediate
Be mistake by new senior chairman who lacks experience to let the old Hawks pull this one over.

Interesting to hear that the clubs with junior teams might use their senior players and not promote them until the playoffs. Expect there will be a senior football league in the NY board and that it will be played before the championship starts. I presume each team will want to win this. Start the junior and intermediate playoffs after the senior semi-finals. This will give you games in Gaelic Park until the first or second week in October. As the junior and intermediate competitions are for NY based players this should not be a problem.
