Also saddened over the demise of Kerry and Cavan. 4 teams left to compete for the senior championship is a complete mess. One thing to come from this is that the money teams are being narrowed down. God help Barnabas they will be really up against it.Why are the alarm bells not ringing around Gaelic Park,or does that next trip and all Ireland tickets mean so much to these delegates! Emergency meetings should be held and anyone who has the good of NY Gaa be allowed to attend. The door is slowly beginning to close.

I agree 100% thelowball, the board should be scrambling to do whatever they can to save the Senior division. The case is $ as everyone has noted already, the simple solution to that is eliminate all intercounty transfers and sanctions from the Senior division and have them just use home based players. Also require all players, starting this year, that if they transfer from club to club here in NY, they are required to stay with that club 3 - 4 years, this will stop all the player movement in the off season. Id hate to point out the obvious but how can NY seriously give a county team a real challenge when we cant even get our own books in order here. I don't fully sign up to strictly blaming the board either, clubs need to take a long hard look at themselves and look outside the box to fix this. As I've said in earlier posts, when ideas are thrown around in the meetings they are shot down fairly quickly by the delegates of the clubs, so in that regard, the board's hands are tied. Please for the sake of the game here in NY, will these delegates and clubs not work together to resolve this. If not, we are doomed i'm afraid.

Sligolifer, from what I know the board were in Congress last week so I don't know what the outcome is if indeed Kerry is gone. I don't think there is anything to vote on, if Kerry want to drop, how is the board to stop them?

It sure is collapsing right before their eyes and nothing being done about it. Sad days for sure. But heard Kerry are back on board fair play to them after getting shafted. Hopefully senior will stay at 5 which is poor.

Patsy it is different in Dublin. I don't want to say these players are not getting paid to play for the Dublin teams, because apparently some do. but it wouldn't be to the same scale as here. and the key point is that the players live and work in Dublin and transfer so they don't have to travel home 3-4 hours twice a week to train. it makes sense. whereas in NY it does not. it's all about the money. no other factors involved.

I hear that approx 60 players switched allegiance in New York this week. Any numbers on the amount that transfer club to club in the counties in Ireland each year?

Any word on how the draft went, did the strong get stronger? Word is Jack McCaffery will be playing in US for the summer after his Africa trip, Donegal and Monaghan surely be favorites to land him, talks of him maybe going to Chicago, must be a few Trumps out there as well as NY

@sligolifer. yes heard barnabas gained a few good ones, Williams, loughlin, dwyer and a few armagh boys which should strengthen them but all other senior teams maxed out drafts aswell. Still think senior will be a challenge for any new teams coming up. Monaghan have put themselves favorites form the get go.

Talk on street NY chairman has being asked to step down from his position .

Chairman has not been asked to stand down. Look at the work that the chairman has put in. He's got new teams into the junior ranks. He's got the Hurling senior division up and running again. The senior division will always be the same no matter who the chairman is. Gaelic Park is getting a long needed overhaul under his watch. He's pushing new idea's. Believe me I have no love for Donegal but give him his dues he's doing a great job with very little help. It's a thankless job.
