the talk of doing something is nonsense. no one can freeze a bank account no one can restrict a lad moving from one club to the next every two years no one can restrict a lad from only playing for birth county and the end all is no one can eliminate player movement as croke park will not have it. it cannot even be done to eliminate paddy somebody from sponsoring or aiding a club. this is the state of affairs in this town and there is very little hope of changing the way it is

Again Monaghan club has picked up where Leitrim and Dinegal left off. Truth is that no one cares what Kerry do and don't even try to make out you do. Delegates take joy in this poaching and couldn't care less about the structure.

Speaking to a few Kerry people they are infact considering dropping down due to the amount of players they lost last night and the fact a few of their players are set to move home in the coming weeks ... It's a sad state of affairs, but hopefully it won't come to this.

Sligolifer, so are you saying that everyone in this town the loves the game and wants to see it grow have no options whatsoever to stop the crap that's going on?? There is absolutely nothing wrong with people/companies that want to sponsor team kits (jerseys, togs, socks, etc,) but there is something totally wrong with spending reckless money to ensure you win the NYGAA Championship (any grade). People don't have loyalty here because of the $$ that is being offered. The one way of restricting that is no sanctions and very very little intercounty transfers. This will not be done because some clubs only survive with those 2 components. The NYGAA just celebrated its 100th Anniversary in this town, some feat, but the road we are going down does not look all that much hopeful.

Of course there are restrictions which can be put in place to try and combat all of the poaching and money being thrown around. We will never eliminate it but we can try and make it harder
1. No transfers between clubs in the same division. Players transferring within the same division are more than likely doing so for cash. Nothing wrong with players moving down a division or up, in search of better quality football
2. A substantial 'administration fee' on senior clubs making inter county transfers. I know money is no object apparently, but not every transfer is a success and this 'fee' could be used to develop the youth in the city.
3. Possible transfer ban or limit on defending champions, similar to a draft in NFL or basketball where the winners cannot make transfers in the following year in order to stop them continuously poaching the best players and becoming stronger every year.

Unfortunately the new breed of club delegates are not up to the tasks at hand. The new breed of officers are clueless. Not one of them would have been nominated for an officers position ten years ago. Rules to control the movement of players were in place. Example: A club can receive a total of ten (7) transfers. The present officers ruled that this only applies to club to club transfers in the NY board. Kerry got seventeen inter county transfers in 2015. A rule exists that says a player can only transfer once every two years. The same top officers ruled that this does not apply to anyone who was an inter county transfer in 2015. He is allowed to jump ship. They claim that Croke Park made these decisions. 100% wrong. Croke Park never interfered with the by laws of any county board as long as they were needed by that board to correct/control a problem. Im sure that goings on in NY are an embarrassment to them. The delegates seem to accept as gospel whatever a couple of the top officers spout. By all reports out of NY very few of the delegates are concerned enough to speak up loudly or else they do not have to courage to do so. If the clubs and delegates do not wake up they will have no place to go on Sundays or Thursday nights.

Nycavanman has a very good idea with no transfers within the divisions. Best one yet. This would have prevent monaghan from transferring 6 players from their fellow teams.

Everyone on here is up in arms about the grand scheme of things around Gaelic Park. The more chaotic the better for the senior board. The upcoming Congress trip for the good oul boys which will cost at least 20k + is a waste of money. This money should be spent on the development of the American born players. Furthermore this is the same money that's collected of these players everytime they show up to play. Since when would the NY opinion matter that much to the folks around Croke Park anyway? In the event of a vote at Congress ,this could be done by way of Email. Is it the fact that they are there for social purposes around the Croke Park hotel because nobody is going to take the NY delegation seriously. Wake up Croke Park to what the NY deal is!

Lowball you are spot on with the cost of sending these people to congress. What a waste of money. The GAA look on New York as a money pit. They give them millions of dollars over the last 10 years and nothing is getting accomplished. Its having the opposite effect actually. Less and less in the park every year. The idea of stopping transfers within the division is a great idea. They need to create clubs in New York. Make the players show some loyalty to the club. As I previously stated the players should be made stay with a club for 4 or 5 years. None of the players would then be shopping themselves around in the winter.

Agree with the idea of increasing the years from 2 years to at least 3 before you can move clubs. After 3 years with a club if a player doesnt want to be part of the club then there is no point in even keeping them around. No movement within division also a great idea. Anyway we have beat the subject to death so lets move on. Any news on how the NY county squad are shaping up with the new management team?? Haven't heard a thing and its a little over 2 months to Roscommon??

Kerry seniors have officially withdraw I'm being told. There moving to intermediate. One would assume that there players are reopened for transfer. What clubs will gain these players. They have 4 or 5 nice ones.

lol so we have Donegal, monaghan, barnabas and cork in senior is it? what message does this send out to the youth in NY when they see Barnabas getting trimmed by 20+ points (no offence). No incentive to the clubs which are run the right way to keep things going ie. Shannon gaels, rockland, barnabas, Celtics. terrible

I can't believe Kerry are gone. This may be the end of football in NY as we know it. The board made no attempt to save us from dropping out of senior a few weeks ago. Cavan have been a strong team in this town forever and they just let us walk with no help. I think all of the board should leave their positions immediately as its obvious its beyond their capabilities.

It really is time for an overhaul. Time for all the dead wood to go and have a more youthful board but unfortunately some of these have clung on to the old habits.
That's Cavan, Kerry and Leitrim gone in two years but it also has to be said that senior teams are and have dug there own graves.

SOMETHING WILL HAVE TO BE DONE ABOUT THE BOARD . WILL IT HAVE TO BE APPROVED BY CCC BEFORE THEY CAN DROP DOWN

I am saddened to hear that Kerry are not going to field a senior football team in New York this year. Cavan and Kerry senior teams seem to have been around in NY forever. Maybe Kerry may be convinced to reconsider. As for the CCC, members not fully acquainted with the Official Guide, think they have powers influence/power which do not exist, except in the minds of the CCC members. It makes for good reading in the winter months Regarding teams/players it states in part: It shall process and make recommendations to the Co. Committee on the Grading of Clubs and Players. Thought from reading the Echo that Kerry, like Cavan, had plenty of players. They were in the senior final and the intermediate final in 2015. This boggles the mind. If Kerry had won the intermediate final and they now withdraw their senior team there would be three teams in the NY senior championship. Saw in one of the earlier proposals by the CCC that there would be two teams in the 2016 senior group. As for the Kerry senior players I expect to see a number of them commuting and playing in Boston this year.Maybe if the management group in New York spent more time considering the problems facing the clubs and less on the banding of players some progress might be made.
