Quite the contrary there Cavanman, dont think there were any American born players playing for Manhattan gaels last year. Early in the season they had up to 30 players togged for games.Where do they get the bodies. Is everyone legit? As far as player poaching is concerned Leitrim wrote the book on this one until Donegal finally turned the tables on them.Jamie Clarke will probably end up with Monaghan, word is that they are getting a big dollar sponsor. Longford would not be able to match up. Should be very interesting. thelowball (USA) - Posts: 400 - 20/02/2016 16:10:40 1826805 Link 0 |
I think the manhattan B team is supposed to be American born players. They had big numbers but still were not much use so I suppose if they were poaching, they weren't poaching the best players! Definitely didn't hear of them offering any cash to players anyway so maybe players wanted to play for them as they seem to have a decent club going or maybe these lads lived in the city… NYCcavanman (USA) - Posts: 204 - 22/02/2016 14:17:45 1827209 Link 0 |
So it seems that all divisions are set so when are games starting. Should be all wrapped up this year by end of August. Crossgaa (Mayo) - Posts: 553 - 22/02/2016 14:42:39 1827216 Link 0 |

sadly it appears that Cavan are loosing a few, this because of dropping down to intermediate. Rumor has it that Monaghan are the main beneficiaries given their close bond. Didn't hear of any others moving about. Crossgaa (Mayo) - Posts: 553 - 22/02/2016 19:22:08 1827319 Link 0 |
Heard the O'Connor's are going to Barnabas!! A few of the Donegal senior subs are heading across the Tappan Zee to play for Rockland. Jamie Clarke still going to play for Longford. He has his money and a job when he comes back for the football season. as previously stated the crowds in Gaelic Park are getting smaller by the year. All the county board decision makers are heading to Congress this weekend. Should be some nice receipts handed in after this trip!! Why they have to send 5 I will never know. By the way what's stopping us from joining the North American board, oh that's right then we would have someone dictating to our county board and we couldn't have that. North American finals is a great finish to a football season. hawkeye2002 (Tyrone) - Posts: 21 - 23/02/2016 12:41:49 1827446 Link 0 |
is Clarke getting paid in coffee beans? NYCcavanman (USA) - Posts: 204 - 23/02/2016 13:56:09 1827482 Link 0 |
Jamie Clarke would have to be in the "Trump 20k category" with the no show job etc, etc.Cant see him holding down a doorman job.Monaghan would have to be favorite to land the talented Armagh striker, with Donegal pushing the price for his services skyward. thelowball (USA) - Posts: 400 - 23/02/2016 14:35:57 1827499 Link 0 |
It's hard to believe that when Leitrim started playing the money game 5-6 years ago 3k was the going rate for a player and we were all shocked at that. Now in the space of a few short years with numbers like 20k being mentioned I fear for the future and credibility of Gaelic park. As was mentioned in another post above maybe it's time that this fiasco was brought to croke parks attention. Wayovertheline (Kerry) - Posts: 58 - 23/02/2016 14:37:01 1827500 Link 0 |
will be interesting to see who goes where .let the games and money rolling begin newyorklad (USA) - Posts: 111 - 23/02/2016 14:42:42 1827503 Link 0 |
Wayovertheline it is ridiculous alright. I know a few intercounty players at home who would be scraping a 20k salary a year (before tax) and for a player to step of a plane (free flight) and receive 20k cash tax free is ludicrous. Someone has to be notified. What is to stop all the better players from weaker counties coming over and getting a huge lump, accommodation and job. It is not fair on players at home, not fair on players in NY and not fair on clubs who do it legit and don't offer money. NYCcavanman (USA) - Posts: 204 - 23/02/2016 16:05:42 1827534 Link 0 |

Kerry want to regrade after the leagues are confirmed?! Can't be serious NYCcavanman (USA) - Posts: 204 - 24/02/2016 15:20:49 1827826 Link 0 |
Was up at the steakhouse last night and heard the same thing newyorklad. I didn't hear specific names, but was told by a very good source, Donegal poached 4 Kerry Senior players. This is turning into a complete and utter joke. Donegal by all accounts will have the Senior championship retained without even a kick of the ball. If Kerry regrade then that will leave Donegal, Monaghan, Cork and St. Barnabas in Senior. Now are we going backward or moving forward here in NY?? I wont say anything about the NY Chairmen being from Donegal, but who is actually going to stand up to this? The answer plain and simple is NO ONE! To many yes men and sheep in this crop of GAA for anyone with fair and reasonable views to be heard. There were loads of new faces up in the steakhouse last night also, wonder where they are transferring from and to??? Didn't stay around for the full meeting afterwards so don't know if all the names were read out, does anyone know? God help football in NY, every year there is something. No truth whatsoever that Kerry are looking to drop down.. They may have got raided last night but it's not the first time it's ever happened.. Wayovertheline (Kerry) - Posts: 58 - 24/02/2016 15:28:43 1827830 Link 0 |

I honestly hope not Wayovertheline, like Cavan, Kerry have been a constant in Gaelic Park since football came to this town. If they dropped out of Senior that would really have people wondering what direction GAA is going in this town. Anyone hear of who is transferring and what teams they are going to?? Rumors have been floating around for most of the off season, so what is actual fact? NarrowBack914 (USA) - Posts: 181 - 24/02/2016 15:43:29 1827837 Link 0 |
yes its true kerry delagte did take the floor last night at meeting and say it that it could happen that the will look to regrade . no one wants to see this happen at all . lakecounty10 (USA) - Posts: 13 - 24/02/2016 15:47:27 1827840 Link 0 |
