So the Junior B final is set for Sunday at 1pm. Local rivals Celtics vs St. Barnabas. Both teams will know each other at this point very well and have been both playing well. Who is everyones call???? I think it'll be a tight match with not a lot in it at the final whistle. Going to take Celtics by 2. NarrowBack914 (USA) - Posts: 181 - 19/08/2016 14:57:47 1903230 Link 0 |
Sligo had 18 intercounty transfers and Longford had something similar along with whatever club to clubs and sanctions so I would find it hard to believe that both teams are not 100% legit. Agree that donegal and longford probably the two strongest teams in NY this year and the fact that Longford were able to finagle there way into intermediate without winning a junior and not made go senior if they wanted to spend like Donegal is a disgrace.... Did sligo spend big cash too? Always a club I admired from a distance.

Donegal, longford and Monaghan have spent enough this year that would have put new center up. It's a total disgrace what's galling at the moment and the powers that be are standing by letting it all happen. Of ally man is right. Shen the money goes then it's too late Crossgaa (Mayo) - Posts: 553 - 19/08/2016 17:54:47 1903304 Link 0 |
Agreed, 3 or 4 Clubs calling shots, I sat in stands last night and supporters were in dismay at half time in second game as the Few Senior Board Officers whom were doing umpires and sidelines abandoned their jobs and left to go to a Senior Board Meeting. A Junior B semi Final was of no importance to Them.

To put a dollar amount on it I would estimate that between those three clubs at least $200,000 has been spent in the past 12 months. Got to admire those clubs that don't spend and still compete with these all star teams. Barnabas already beat monaghan this year, brooklyn competed well with longford and hopefully maybe barnabas or kerry can beat donegal/monaghan doubt it but be great to see. Sligo also spent $$ this summer but not the same levels as the three aforementioned..... Patsy1916 (USA) - Posts: 136 - 19/08/2016 18:50:07 1903324 Link 0 |
Patsy1916. I'd safely say your a bit off with the 200,000 for these 3 clubs. Donegal look like there the biggest spenders. It's their only means of attracting players. Here's my estimate Donegal 230,000 Minaghan 90,000 Cork, Kerry, Barnabas 40,000 Intermediate Longford 60,000 Westmeath 40,000 Sligo 50,000 Cavan , Rockland 25,000 I would say these are low ball figures on money being spent on players. Welcome other views. Crossgaa (Mayo) - Posts: 553 - 20/08/2016 13:37:02 1903520 Link 0 |
What a disgrace

Westmeath are spending more then that in my opinion. Look at the signings they made. No way in hell are Rockland, Cavan, Barnaba's and Sligo spending that sort of money. They are home based teams apart from a few lesser known summer players.

Barnabas for a fact have never even come close to spending thag sort of money. They get 2 sanctions and rest came up through the minor board. .longford have spent way more then 60 irelandscall123 (Roscommon) - Posts: 41 - 20/08/2016 17:38:37 1903611 Link 0 |

What a brilliant hurling final today in the park. More games like that please! NYfootiefan (USA) - Posts: 24 - 22/08/2016 02:39:25 1904252 Link 0 |
Two very entertaining games in the park on Sunday. Barnabas winning Junior B by 3 points . It was slow start but there were some great scores from both teams. The higher divisions must surely draft a few of these players. COngrats to Ulster as well on winning 4 in a row. Hard luck to Waterford. Best hurling game I have seen a while. Didn't stay for the two inter matches but I heard Sligo and Westmeath just ran away with the matches. Hard luck to Rockland and Mayo. They did very well and no one expected them to get this far especially with all the Irish Americans from both sides. I'd still say Longford will win inters but hopefully I am wrong. Congrats to St Barnabas and Ulster, 2 deserved champions. Junior B final started slow and low key but turned out to be a very quick one. NarrowBack914 (USA) - Posts: 181 - 22/08/2016 14:12:54 1904464 Link 0 |
