standman, I more than most am completely against the sums of money paid to these summer sanctions. I am ok with them getting their flights and accommodation paid but not a lump of cash into their pockets. however, I would argue that the underage setup in NY has never been stronger, despite the money being given to transfers, which has been ongoing for years. could this money be better spent on youth in the city? of course. if anything is to be done, and I feel it would be very difficult to stop the cash, I suggest some of these summer sanctions hold some open training sessions free of charge to the young players, in order to give something back.

Don't they see what's gonna happen when the future in underage see what's going on and just give up on playing gaelic. Typical as always buddy's do great things. Shame on NY . No future at all I'm afraid"
Senior Board have no vision or dont care about the Young Players coming up through the Minor Board. Only a couple of Clubs left whom are using these Young players. Then another couple who have signed a few players (Giving them NO Playing time) to make up numbers so they can get sanctions. Just recently on a Saturday afternoon the U-14 Final ended level and required extra time which also ended level, This game was watched by a very decent crowd. They Senior Board Officers present were livid because it would run their games a few minutes late which would be watched by a mere handful. All one needs to do is look at the Sunday attendance in Gaelic Park. Ladies and Gentlemen the park is dying a FAST death and NOTHING been done to prevent it. Big Clubs buying or attempting to buy Championships.

Ranger. You are correct. Senior board don't care and American born only used for fill ins with the exception of Barnabas who play there own and fill in only what they need. Rangers, rays and Celtics also doing a good job. Rock land not so much. They rely heavily on the imports.
My own Mayo drafted a good few Americans but now some are subs.
Senior board are catering to Donegal and Minaghan only and these two will be good teams but they did no develope them they BOUGHT them.

Will the final be ready by that date? You have the CYC coming up at the end of July and at least two of your intermediate teams will be excused. The junior division has about five teams involved. This will create a huge backlog of games. Then next up are the World Games and move teams will seek to be excused. This runs from Aug. 7 to Aug, 13 with the finals on Aug. 11.Expect in the inter section at least two teams will have been eliminated by then and those games need not be played. Also Saturday of Labour weekend should also be available if necessary.

for the life of me i do not know why this was done with such a huge amount of games to play and players playing hurling and football and drafting to teams it goes to show what is taught of players

We all know it's not possible to run intermediate off so quickly. The clubs are running the board and telling ccc what to do. The ones with the money can also buy the votes. It's not feasible.
The GAA is a mess here at the moment. Donegal and Monaghan have decided that the senior division should belong to them only. Paying these players will stop soon because there will be no opposition. That's right just what happened in Chicago a decade back anc football got buried.
The only honest division is Junior B.

Was at the Cork/Kerry senior game in the park last night.
Time keeper was in a hurry home, so he started the game clock before teams had lined up and then left the pitch.
Ref threw in ball with 4 minutes gone off the clock, without having them reset clock to 30.....
another black eye on NY GAA. Actually more like an embarrassment.
Kerry won by 4pts, but if this was closer, the game would have to be replayed??

Referee is the only one in charge of time and even he cannot reduce clock by 4 minutes. This warrants a replay regardless of result. You said 4 points and 4 minutes taken from clock.

I have seen this happen before at a game. The old lad is always screaming at teams to line out etc. and then he starts the clock. I thought it was a joke or scare tactic at first, but the game was technically on. I kind of understood the reason at it was the first game of the evening on this night, with another game to come, but last night there was no reason at all as it was the second game. Gaelic park is like the wild west, run by cowboys.

What was the official starting time for the game. See on your schedule that it was for 8:00. Rule in the GAA is "In the event both teams are late the game shall be played for the amount of allotted time left for that game."
Expect that the teams were probably on the field and warming up. Cold night and needed to get the blood flowing.

Saw it as well. Absolute farce, both teams out on field before first game finishes and we all know who roaring and shouting and starting the clock and then going home. No one has the power to shorten a game, not him, referee, board anyone. Didn't an All Ireland hurling final or semi final with Offaly and Clare have to be replayed as ref did not play enough time. Seems like a no brainer if Cork objected but this is the NY GAA so it will be hear no evil, see no evil and it will be swept under rug as usual.

Game was scheduled for 8pm.
Previous game ran over 10 minutes late. You cannot blame Cork or Kerry for that.
Are they not allowed 10-15 minutes for warm up?

game supposedly ran 20 minute late because of first game but so what they never go off in time. This Cork and Kerry game was super important with the winner most likely advancing to semi final and the looser with an up hill battle to make the top 4 so from what I've heard today that Cork will be objecting to the time keeping here and to also have the man removed from clock who am told is not a officer of the NY GAA. But agree with earlier post that it will be swept under rug because this man will be supported by board for doing what he done.

That is a new one to me. Where did you read that? Ten to fifteen minutes when it is ninety degrees is a bit long even for the super fit NY senior players. Some spend more energy before the throw in than during the game.

I think you have to give fair consideration that, at the time of the match, the temperature was over 90/30 C and very very humid. The artificial surface at GP must raise the temp by 5-10 degrees. I have no problem with extra time being given for water breaks - even if that delayed the schedule somewhat. At some point, you have to consider player welfare and think about the lads who recently came over and may not be used to that kind of heat and humidity. In fairness, the schedule should take excessive heat conditions into consideration during the summer months in NY. I wasn't there -and can't tell if the time given was excessive - but let's be fair and not condemn everything that goes on at GP.

Not much in park yesterday. No senior football. I often wonder why good intermediate games are not played on Sunday's.
Donegal looked very powerful against Batnabas on sat night. Barnabas to their credit played well after a bad start but couldn't translate good play into scores. Monaghan are the only opposition left to challenge the Donnies. Cork and Kerry might come close but the gap in quality is too great.
Jamie Ckarke a joy to watch as he was the difference against Kerry. Mayo or Cavan may still challenge Longfird for intermediate yet.
