The most AI winning medal laden road in Ireland?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

From a recent article about Paddy Andrews

"In all fairness, the older guys give you that encouragement as well, guys like Stephen Cluxton and Barry Cahill and I'd know the Brogans very well anyway, from living on the same road.

Got me thinking...

Bernard Snr - 3 medals

Alan - 4 medals

Bernard - 3 medals (Was BB on the U-21 panel captained by AB?)

Paul - 1 medal

Paddy - 2 medals

That makes 13 All Ireland winner medals on the one road

Not bad at all..... Jaysus that's some amount of Leinster winning medals!!

I think there's a street in Tralee (possibly named Rock St???) where a load of All-Ireland winners grew up on.

Roads/ housing estates in Dublin can be very large indeed, in fairness! Not sure if they live on the same road or not, but Ventry and Templenoe would be in with a shout.

I'd say young mcgarry has 6 of those. That has to be a record for such a small area.

Spillane's have 19 AI medals. Their mother comes from the Lynes of Cleeney Killarney and her brothers won numerous more AI medals (think it's 5 or 6).

The O Se brothers have 16 but if you want to add their uncle Paudie who lived across the road, then they have 24.

The Landers of Rock Street in Tralee won 12 AI medals in the 1920s-30s and were the first three brothers to win AI medals on the same day.

Urban Tce (has 20 terrace houses) in Rock St Tralee has 22 AI medals.

Camp in Co Kerry has the distinction of having the most All-Ireland medals per head of population of any village in Ireland.

Kerry Kerry i never knew that about Camp....for such a small place. Beautiful village, great facilities for kids there too with the new complex. Has Ashes re-opened yet?
Best ribs in Ireland a mile or 2 up the road in Aughcasla in the Hogs. Finger lickin good!!

The grandfather always used to say about Rock St that if you were short a few bob in the gorcers they would take an all ireland medal as credit

If you walk up the path to Charlie Nelligan's house you will find twelve. The house at the end of Jack O'Shea's road will yield eleven.

Speaking of Jack O'Shea as I look at the record book I see that he was Footballer of the Year in 1980, 1981, 1984, and 1985.
Got an All Star in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1985. Dont know if they give medals for these or just glassware.

That's my neck of the woods just out past the hogs.
I have to say that it's great place in the summer with lots of families from Dublin enjoying their holidays.
