With Rochford favourite for the Mayo role. Can they afford him with the county board slashing Mayos training budget? HughHunt24 (Cork) - Posts: 841 - 27/10/2015 17:49:57 1802401 Link 0 |
I think Rochford is cheaper so Mayo are safe enough. TheRightStuff (Donegal) - Posts: 1688 - 27/10/2015 18:03:35 1802410 Link 0 |
I always laugh when i hear figures bandied about about what managers/Trainers are being "paid" shea (Kerry) - Posts: 409 - 27/10/2015 19:08:57 1802440 Link 0 |
Is that Jim Rockford from the Rockford Files fame? He's dead though, couldn't be him. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7973 - 27/10/2015 19:49:45 1802452 Link 0 |
It's not the CB that pay the money . It's the sponsors and money raised through various ways Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 27/10/2015 20:00:26 1802454 Link 0 |

Stupid thread - if a big county like Mayo (with its many sponsors) can't afford a relatively new coach/manager like Rochford then what hope have the smaller counties! Really HS should eliminate this type of thread. God I should not even be responding to this. I know. Redslayer (Westmeath) - Posts: 100 - 27/10/2015 20:51:13 1802466 Link 0 |
The county board will be well able to afford Rochford. He's got a very short management CV so his wage demands can't be overly taxing. pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 27/10/2015 21:20:01 1802474 Link 0 |
The players might want to change half way through the year. Who take over then?? Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 27/10/2015 21:23:22 1802477 Link 0 |
HughHunt's infatuation with all things Mayo is really rather strange. This thread is just bizzare. roundball (Tipperary) - Posts: 2514 - 27/10/2015 21:41:07 1802491 Link 0 |

Are you trying to suggest managers are being paid hugh? Have you any evidence to support this accusation? TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 28/10/2015 10:31:33 1802533 Link 0 |
Listen of course Mayo can afford it jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 28/10/2015 10:37:20 1802538 Link 0 |

Don't worry lads business is booming here in London we'll keep the show on the road if needs be. No stone will be left unturned all the CB need to do is ask. boomerang (Mayo) - Posts: 51 - 28/10/2015 11:14:58 1802552 Link 0 |
Accusations of managers being paid are 100% accurate. Anyone involved in the finance side of GAA clubs or counties is fully aware of this and the "going rates" for the various calibers of candidate. pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 28/10/2015 11:25:14 1802554 Link 0 |
Fan donations help jimbodub. Few wealthy Mayo men in have contributed to the team down the years. That will continue. The level of support we have around the world is unreal. 5,000 of us went to NY two years ago and I spoke to Colm O Rourke out there and he said he couldn't believe the amount of Mayo people out there who traveled and ex-pats, second/third generation living out there and supporting the team. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11563 - 28/10/2015 11:38:27 1802560 Link 0 |
I don't believe jimbo has it right to be honest. We won a minor all Ireland in 2013, we made the semis again the following year and were beaten by, in fairness a great side. They had a bad year last year, but that wasn't down to lack of funding, and we all in the county know that. We are also contesting junior all Irelands regularly - where some big counties don't even enter a team, so our grass roots is better than most over the period where we have spent the most. Our u-21s haven't been going great, but then again we have won AI's at u21 in the recent past. If most other counties had these levels of success they would consider their grass roots to be excellent. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 28/10/2015 12:11:38 1802580 Link 0 |
