1784768 Tipp, great match, the offaly match was pretty dire, great finish though, and I think Kerry were more sickened by it than Kilkenny. They still are.

No it wasn't the 1982 final a really high quality match and is wiely regaridng as a great match but it gets forgotten because of the finish.

A lot of interesting reading there!

It would seem that the Wexford team of 1915-18 were like Gods at the end of their reign and had 'achieved all they could' as though they got bored with it.

They won in 1915, '16 '17 and '18. They also made the finals of 1913 and'14. Some team.

I saw it there on AI gold uibhfhaile, it was pretty mindnumbing. But all matches from that era were, until the 90s

I was at that final flack. I remember it as being a very enjoyable match all the way through with a sensational finish. I have seen it since and mindnumbing is a ridiculous description of the game.

Dunno, greengrass, all those matches from that era look like they're being played in slow-motion, I suppose they were funny at the time though

I remember watching the 1982 final and thinking it was a great game. I've watched it a couple of times since and did not change my mind. One major difference in those days is that all frees were off the ground, which greatly slowed the pace compared to today's games, but there was plenty of good football on show. There were many superb footballers on both of these teams - Matt Connor and Mikey Sheehy were two of the most skillful players I've ever seen and were and a joy to watch.

Offaly's was more impressive as Kerry played ok in the final and were ahead going into the final matches. Kilkenny looked more beatable after the 09 final and didn't have Shefflin at full fitness so the final was fairly 50/50. More analysis of opponents is undertaken these days so Tipp would have been aware of the few weaknesses Kilkenny had compared to Offaly
