The ban was always going to be overturned.

But hopefully this will be a fright to all players not just to Tiernan Mccann that play acting and diving wont be tolerated

With last night's ruling to overturn the ban that the vast majority of people (Tyrone or otherwise) felt was inapropriate it's time to park this issue for now focus on the 3 remaining matches in the championship.
The issue of unsporting conduct/gamesmanship/cheating will undoubtedly and correctly be the subject of discussion and legislation at the out of season round of conferences.

So for now, move along folks nothing to see here ... ... ...

A bit of sense has prevailed and great to see Meyler's black card rescinded. The fact that certain RTE commentators both suggested the 8 week ban and who also agreed with Duffy on the black card does question their expertise and their capability of being analysts of the game

Well no surprises there then. Interesting to note that the article states that Duffy DID send Hughes off for the hair ruffle. So it must be in Duffy's report. That makes an even greater mockery of the disciplinary/appeal process. Some very high profile incidents in the last year or so now where no punishment has been dished out. Congress need to get their act together. Will Harte play McCann now? All eyes will be on him if he does.

I think the lad has suffered enough at this stage. He will get abuse/booed from the opposition fans for a while. He has probably learnt his lesson in my view and it's time to move on.

How do you go from an 8 week ban to nothing? How does that even happen? 8 weeks in itself was farcical but to get away with no punishment whatsoever is a joke ~PHS

I say that the rules have been implemented as per the GAA code and not a Machiavellian board making it up as they go along...........

What is your distain for Tyrone all about? On one hand you claim you will be supporting them on Sunday on the other you are on here mouthing off

The idea was great, very forward-thinking, but they couldn't just single one fella out from all the divers, who are endemic now. Hopefully for next year they'll do it properly

Get off the stage Jim! Look what the lad did was disgraceful but the proposed ban was ridiculous. Put some stonewall procedures in place now, to make sure it doesn't happen again. I still blame the ref for all this nonsense.

Just to clarify what I meant there. Marty Duffy did not see the incident so he should have done nothing unless he was 100 per cent sure. If what another poster says is true and that Marty confirmed he did see it and sent him off for a hair ruffle then he shouldn't be reffing inter county games anymore. The video shows him looking at his notebook when it happened, so he couldn't have seen it either way.

jimbodub how is this another massive opportunity lost you can not change the rules half way thru the season what McCann did should not be seen in our game I do agree but to single him out for a 8 week ban for a yellow card offence is wrong, where was the uproar for all the other games for a player gaining unfair advantage a lot of higher profile names and teams have been guilty of this in the past few months.
I would also point out that there was a ref on the pitch he sent the man off the question has to be asked what for as he should not be sending someone off if he is not 100% sure he has committed a red card offence this is one reason that the cccc are there to deal with thing the ref may have missed on the pitch if he didn't see it or was unsure and the linesmen also no action should have been taken. So now I ask where are the calls for Marty Duffy to say sorry to Monaghan?

Well theres a 400+ post in this thread thank you for your participation and time you have taken from your lives but sad to say that its all over for another couple of days.

No Doubt this was mentally draining for us, question is what effect will it have on the Tyrone camp and the player involved? To be in the spotlight for 10 days now and now it will continue up until Sunday. The media will love Kerry to beat Tyrone, they will have the field day of all field days and could blow it up even more than the AI Final itself.

Will Kerry use the Hairgate saga to his advantage pinpont the player with the ref taking a "blind eye" to going to ground genuinely but telling him to get up cause of this incident.

Lets see if we can get 500+ posts

tyronemanc I have no dislike for tyrone people as my parents and grandparents are all from tyrone.

I just have a dislike for this growing attitude among some sections of fan who think the world is against them. I have no time for that or cheating in any walk of life

tyronemanc and i have never attacked or trolled a single person on here. I give my opinion on events as how I see it and try unlike alot in cases to back it up with stats, facts, figures and precident.(maybe not as much on this issue as it has really struck a nerve with me as I see diving as something that could kill the game i love) Although I do get a lot of personal gibes thrown at me in relation to soccer from tyrone users which i find strange.....considering one pointed out to me that there was a soccer forum on here and I even noticed some had posted on it.
