You could add Tomas Freeman to that list - ban for not head-butting a Derry player - missed the whole championship and thereby contributed significantly to Monaghan's early exit from that year's championship.

1769220 Why is everyone blaming McCann for getting Hughes sent off? Hughes was in the process of being sent off for another incident when McCann went down. Hughes was already on his way so McCanns dive was irrelevant. Why was Hughes ruffling McCanns hair anyway? Is this normal or accepted behavior?
---
If he was being sent off already then why did McCann take the shameful dive? If he wasn't trying to get Hughes sent off then what was he doing, protecting a hair piece?
I ruffle my 6 year old boys hair all the time, it's a sign of affection - "run along you little scamp". Have you ever known "ruffling of hair" to be an act of aggression? Would it cause any individual, even a 6 year old boy, to hit the ground holding his face? That's how shameful McCann's act was. You wouldn't get it from a 6 year old. And Harte can try and protect his player by saying that he had a "hand raised to him" but really, who is Harte kidding? That attempt to deflect is almost as embarrassing as the dive itself.
Imagine, Tyrone playing Armagh in the 00s and Geezer taking a dive like this. Would the Tyrone lads all be on here saying, ah sure look he knows he did wrong, it was a poor decision, he regrets what he did. You can bet your life that they would be calling for his head. That's the fact of the matter.

But slayer - what about those questions I have asked? Are their rational answers/reasons to them?

Just to change the focus a bit I would like to suggest what set the Tyrone Monaghan match on the track that led to all this nonsense.
Meyler gave a pass and tried to run on to take part in the move forward. A Monaghan player ran across him and bodychecked him to prevent Meyler taking part in the move forward (a clear black card offence). To disguise his body check the Monaghan player fell down across Meyler who instinctively put out his arms as he fell. Duffy completely misread the situation and without consulting (it being a Tyrone player) black carded Meyler (what possible reason could Meyler who was trying to get round a 'stumbling' Monaghan player to join an attacking move have for pulling down a Monaghan player who was already on the down under his own volition). So the Monaghan player was guilty of a blaggard sorry black card offence in body checking 2. Was guilty of deceit (pretending Meyler pulled him down -thus bringing the game into disrepute adding a yellow) by going down in a way calculated to disguise his offence and get Meyler into trouble (turning his black card offence into a red card offence) and it worked!!! The tone was set and if Monaghan could do this and the ref lets them what was sauce for the Goose (Monaghan)was sauce for the Gander (Tyrone)so the pattern was set and QED here we are.
But it being Tyrone what was started by Monaghan and continued by them (for example McAdam in fouling and then going down easy plus McManus, Finley and Mone amongst others) was all Tyrone's fault (Tyrone are not blameless, McCann was wrong, but balance lads look across the whole picture) with the usual mob and media frenzy.
Hide and ignore the problem of dumb rules, dumb administration and dumb refs and blame Tyrone; easy attention seeking reflex.
Also I would still like to see the refs report to see precisely why Hughes was sent off. Do GAA ever publish refs reports?
Lastly CCCC does not have enough Cs add two more for Cretins and Cowards

That was the most hilarious post I have seen on this yet.
Holy hell, I thought after 10 minutes of the game Seán Cavanagh forgot to put studs in his boots. Tyrone were diving from the thrown in under nothing tackles....oh the sauce was certainly good for the goose and the gander! Monaghan did plenty of it too. In fact one of the funniest and pathetic examples had to be Conor McAliskey getting up like Lazarus after Monaghan surrendered possession and Tyrone were on the break.
If you think any of those incidents were the same as what McCann did then you are lost already.

Joxer McCann was wrong to dive. How often do I have to say that and how many other people need to say it to satisfy you. Do you want me to take out an ad in the Independent or Northside News or whatever? What exactly do you want? What do you mean by "calling for his head?"
Now to the other points.... Are you telling me that it is normal for players to go around running their fingers through opponents hair? Do you think its something that a pumped up player is going to ignore? Are you saying it wasn't provocation? How would you like it done to you? Its like something you do to a dog! GET IT ?
I dont know why McCann took the shameful dive. I imagine it was something he did in the heat of the moment. Would that make sense? Are you denying that Duffy was writing at the time? Why do referees write in their books? It wasn't writing down a score.
So Hughes was on his way off and the dive wasn't a great idea on McCanns part. There is a good chance Duffy didn't even see the dive given the fact he was busy writing Hughes name in the book and given all the other things he missed.
But as MH stated - "He wwasnt the first and he wont be the last."
Im sorry if we in Tyrone dont always live up to the high standards of you and others - we can but try.

Card upgraded to red following an appalling execution by Spillane and Tohill. But Ssshhh, it only happens to Ulster teams you know. Don't spoil the paranoia.

All this trouble with Tyrone could be easily avoided in the future. Players at all levels should be made be take sportsmanship courses where the rules of the game and what is acceptable and what is not are clearly defined
And the man to organise/give the talks at these courses should be....
Joe Brolly!!!!!

rcarragh (Dublin) - 13/08/2015 16:44:12 ------------------------ It's what it says literally that I can't agree with. You are saying that although others have done it in the past, forget about those incidents and let's just punish this Tyrone player now and make an example of him. That's simply unfair.

Banning a silly young man just about to play an AI semi-final is the wrong time to be using him as an example, the time to this was during the league!

I'm glad someone else has seen it Fabio. I've asked on numerous times what rule he has broken that warrants an 8 week ban. Not one person has answered it.

Was that the league final '93? In fairness Liam I think Carr fairly wellied Bryan Murray(?) for no obvious reason.

I'd say Mickey Harte is loving all this as it will feed into the siege mentality that will get a huge performance out of his team against Kerry.
The 8 weeks suspension is a nonsense which can only backfire when it is overturned but it is serving a great purpose in Tyrone where their paranoia about "free staters" being out to get them is in overdrive at the moment.
I still don't think Tyrone will beat Kerry, just not good enough, but it will certainly be must watch football.

Fear not Cacs,
Mrs MuckrossHead & myself retire every evening in our Tyrone pyjamas, drink our Complan from Mickey Harte mugs, we listen to Hugo Duncan every evening & know all the word to "Pretty Little Girl From Omagh.
Anything else we should be doing?
