who is going to win the football championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

i think corofin are favourites without a shadow of doubt as they have been going very well this year.with salthill and nuig the only other contenders!!i think the winners out of this weekends quater finals will be corrofin, nuig, caherlistrane and salthill.

any objections!!

Galway club football is poor.!compared to mayo anyway,Shrule/glencorrib played 3 challenge games this year without ciaran conroy and trevor mortimer vs corofin, cortoon and caherlistrane and they blew all 3 out of the water.!!and S/G couldnt even get out of the group in mayo.

Challenge games, eh? Well Cesc4, they arent much of a barometer of indicating how good football is in a certain county. Let us look at the All Ireland club series and see how many Mayo teams have won titles. Just two- Crossmolina and Ballina. Three Galway sides have won- Corofin, Caltra and Salthill. I rest my case!!!

all im saying is that any of the last 8 in galway would not win the mayo senior championship.!!,its a fact iv seen games myself and the standard is poor.yes i take your point on board but crossmolina and ballina are way superior to any of the galway club all ireland winning teams

Didn't Salthill beat Crossmolina (with the blonde wonder McDonald playing) a couple of years ago on their way to winning the AI and didn't Moycullen absolutely annihilate Mayo opposition in the intermediate championship this year on their way to the Intermediate Club AI ? Galway Club football is higher no doubt - forget about challenge games, nobody takes them seriously.

"Shrule/glencorrib played 3 challenge games this year without ciaran conroy and trevor mortimer vs corofin, cortoon and caherlistrane"

Cesc you are a pure pleb, im involved with a current galway intermediate club and we beat shrule/glencorrib albeit without the mortimers last year. Im in no way suggesting that we are better than ye, all im saying is that a challenge match tells you very little sometimes. So stop talking smack and go and support you minors for the 3rd sunday in september.

Up the west!

Ah lads now dont be biased, mayo club football is a good bittin ahead in all fairness.!!,Salthill just about beat them by 1 pt,crossmollina with a jetlagged mcdonald(just home from oz)and cross missed a penalty.!!salthill lucky that day, very lucky..
the mortimers are worth 12 points to us so i think your intermediate club got off the hook that day,i suppose ye had yer full squad raring to go.S/G beat killererin last year, without the 2 morts by 16 points(if i was to be honest i think it was more) up in killererin, fair enough killererin were mising tommy joyce but that was all.

A galway club will not get out of connacht this year.!

Mayo club football is stronger, end of,case closed.!!

Corofin should win it, they have the strongest side. Salthill are dangerous as well, they have a strong panel with loads of good forwards like Armstrong, Rabbitte, Crowe and Healy. Either would easily be capable of winnning the Mayo championship although I agree with Cesc in that I think in general the standard is a bit higher in Mayo.

cesc4, if you are not concerned about club football in Galway why does it bother you so much that you have to come on to this forum writing about Galway football? I know that ye have an inferiority complex up in Mayo when it comes to Galway football and ye are well within yer rights to be like this as we have been much more successful then ye on the field of play down through the years. Cesc4 you should either stay on your Mayo forum or go back to watching Arsenal on TV!

What about Cortoon Shamrocks lads, I don't think their win over Killererin was a one hit wonder so they have a great chance v Salthill / Knocknacarra next Sat. Is it true Mickey D is in training with Salthill / Knocknacarra. Great to see him back in any capacity? Roll on the Shamrocks. I think it will be all the C's ie Corofin,Caherlistrane, Cortoon and M for Milltown???

salthill to beat cortoon for definate.they have have a great team with hanley and damian healy in defence, dooney and sheridan in midfield and seamie rabbite and alan kerins up front!!the cortoon team just wont be able to compete against that kind of class.

gud weekend of football action all round, i think, with some very interesting results.senior quater finals were very interesting with caherlistrane, corofin and nuig looking very impressive, however one has to take into account the opposition.nuig were very impressive against milltown with m. ronaldson, conway and breathnach looking dangerous but the loss of diarmuid blake did seriously inhibit a milltown team that hasn't been firing on all cylinders this year.corofin knockd out out last years intermediate all ireland champs impressively,so shud justifiably be favourites to win the frank fox.caherlistrane have been going well recently, and i believe they will win frank within 3 years but i dont think they'll do it this year, but they beat an over hyped poor carroroe side and just wont have enough to overturn corofin in my opinion.which leads me onto the last game between cortoon and salthill.i think we should give cortoon credit on the result,a result i would say wasnt expected in the county except in the cortoon dressing room.its hard to give cortoon much hope against nuig though as i think the college will only get stronger and the cortoon team have played thier county final against a salthill team who beat them in the praire last year by 17 points
