Roscommon out!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Terrible to lose lead like that but people just clue into Sunday game tonight and please watch how match officials can determine outcome of a game. Missing 5 definite starters in Niall Carty, cathal shine, Diarmaid Murtagh senan Kilbride and Conor daly would weaken every team. Fermanagh should have had game over at half time tho 10 wides to 2 in first half. Fair play to them great scenes at the end. Hope they get a bit of luck in the draw

Listen we never whinged like the royals but missing senan Kilbride, diarmuid Murtagh, Cathal shine 3 of our main players plus mark healy Niall Carty and conor daly 3 of our upcoming starters cost us
We got on with it and harney enda smith and cathal Cregg were superb
Evans made baffling substitution believing it over

Evans is a great manager but he made a daft decision this year of talking up his team, yes you have to build confidence but don't overhype things as players may believe they are unbeatable, we saw this with Dublin in 2012 and again in 2014. The Rossies started to believe they were AllIreland champs in waiting and got caught out by Sligo and today by Fermanagh. Make sure Evans stays on as manager but for next years League and Championship keep the heads down, train hard and do your talking on the pitch by winning and not on the media overhyping things

All the sides in last year's Division 1 are still in the Championship, even Tyrone and Derry who were relegated.

On a similar note the only teams left standing in the hurling are the six that will contest Div 1A next year.

Sad to see the amount of people on here delighted to have their chance to kick the Rossies, mainly it seems because their manager and fans had a bit of optimism about what they could achieve. They beat Cavan in Cavan last week and by the sounds of things should have beaten Fermanagh in Fermanagh today but got complacent after building a big lead. These are the 2 sides Monaghan scraped by to reach an Ulster final. And this was done with some key players out injured. They are a young side and hopefully are all the better next year for the lessons they will have learned.

so now we are left with:
Munster ......Kerry,Cork,Tipp
Connacht......Mayo,Sligo,Galway
Leinster......Dublin,Westmeath,Kildare
Ulster........Donegal,Monaghan,Derry,Tyrone,Fermanagh

of course there are 2 round 3b games still to play so 2 from Galway,Tipp,Tyrone,Derry will dissappear.

so we might indeed be left with 3 counties from each province in the last 12.

Hard luck. I think John Evens has to stay. Going into Division 1 next year would be a bad time to get a new manager. Mc Stay is not proven yet, Jim mc Guinness, pat Gilroy, Jack O Connor or James Horan. The top men. Great records and no job at the moment.

True that yeah subs were baffling, taking Ian Kilbride off at half time weakened us terriblely I no he was prob taken off due to his yellow but he was having great game. It was a very harsh peno and look forward seeing replay of it tonight. Some poor refereeing for fermanaghs second last score. If there's a better 19 year old in the country better than Ultan Harney I would love to know who. Outstanding again today. Cregg was superb

Rossies do nothing but whinge, missing this missing that,
Is the yellow bus rust protected? As all it seems to be is parked.

I said in Hyde park that Roscommon was the worst team i had seen playing all year, todays result proves that.
Meath have had a terrible year but i wouldn't say anymore than 2 of that Roscommon team would get onto panel.
It really was all hype over substance.

No surprises, very bad Roscommon team, only talking themselves up.
Fermanagh are no great shakes either so really this was bad day to be a rossie.

Evans job shouldn't even be up for discussion in my opinion, he's brought them from Division 3 to 1 and even if they don't last long up there they will learn a hell of a lot more than spending another 12 months in Division 2. Their championship has been dissapointing but like a few of our own players some need to mature a bit more and get the mental state right, I dare say they will have learned plenty from today that should stand them in good stead next year.

Royaldunne that's extremely rich coming from a fella who was crying about Tyrone peno yesterday if anything fermanaghs was more controversial. Besides I'd love to know why all Meath lads are jealous of us rossies.

love the rivalry that has developed between Meath and Roscommon this season. Pity they're in different divisions next year.

Puncity i wouldn't say there is one person in Meath (or any other county for that matter) jealous of Roscommon.
A very poor team that in no way was near as good as Roscommon people thought they were.

Roscommon have a lot of good players coming through. Potential to be in top 5-6 at least but need the right manager to get them to the next level.

Someone like Canavan or Stephen Rochford might be a good option. Give a 1 year deal and review.

Mayo wasted 4 years under OMahoney Rossies shouldn't do the same. Losses against Armagh, Sligo, Fermanagh not good enough in championship

Hard luck to the Rossies and well done Fermanagh great results in last couple of weeks.Really no one should stick the boot into any county team that exits the Championship as the effort and hard graft put in each year by amateurs each year to try and succeed is phenomenol.I actually think Roscommon will be a very decent outfit in the coming years due to the excellent work being carried out there at juvenile level in recent years. My own county should try and follow suit and maybe we could have minor/21s actually competing properly. Then we just might start dreaming of competing with the Dubs again.
