Tyrone V Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Hello from a very wet omagh, the football is terrible. But i got to say i do see what the nordies and the likes of Roscommon get out of this tipe of game, it is intriguing if not my cup of tea, yeah you have to have your own county in it to enjoy, from a natural view its shocking , but i wont care if we out Tyrone Tyrone. Meath have the forwards to score easier than Tyrone. (Cavanagh apart). I don't know of Meath can keep this up for another 35 , its very unmeath like and alien to them , but fair play to mod, he has shocked and astounded Tyrone and Harte, and probably everybody else in football circles.

I know Joxer, kind of reminds me of Dublin 2 - 3 Derry at HT in the league!

Sounds like Meath gave a battling performance as expected. But Tyrone have the better players, I kbow Tyrone people enjoy beating Meath so no doubt they will enjoy their night. It is sad a great County like Meath sunner is now over so early.

Tyrone win thanks to a very dodgy penalty given from the Northern ref.

That has become an occuring theme.Changes needed in management, although I heard the pen should have been a free out.

From 29 minutes to end Meath were by far the better team, some great individual displays from Tyrone players but Meath performance better as a unit, a penalty after 10/15 steps barging with the ball,? But thems are the breaks, we lost it from the sideline im afraid, the taking off of bray who was having his best game in years was bizzare, and we missed a sitter thanks to another sub who shouldn't be anywhere near a Meath panel for another two years never mind on field of the field of play.
I wish Tyrone well for the future, and i thank mick O'Dowd, Trevor Giles and Sean Kelly for their services over the last 3 years , you have brought us as far as you can, and i wholly thank you all for your efforts.
I would like to say one thing very clearly, 3 years ago Meath cb made a huge mistake, do not make the same mistakes again, on way home tonight drive straight to athboy get on bended knee and beg the one man we need, he will take it
Let us look forward to these players getting the leadership and great management team they deserve. Ggod we need you, hear our prayers.

Hard luck today royaldunne. Listening to the game on the radio I thought befroe the penalty was awarded that Meath would swing it. Kevin Reilly had a great game and showed leadership when it was needed in the second half. Who is the new manager that you would like to see taking over from Mick O'Dowd's management team?

typical meath whinging as usual...it was a nailed on penalty..player running through into penalty box and dragged to the ground...thats a foul and therefore a penalty...why do you say it was dodgy??...tyrone bar far the better team..just took them a while to break down a typical midlands blanket defence

Maybe the replay will prove me wrong when it's televised, but I didn't think it was a penalty, nor did any of the Tyrone fans round me. McCann seemed to take too many steps, and Id've given a free out.

Tyrone were very poor, again. A couple of fine individual performances, notably little Mark Bradley, whose vision, movement and skills are a joy to watch. For Meath, I agree with Royaldunne about the Bray substitution - I was delighted when they took him off, as he was picking up a lot of ball at CHF. Both Reillys had big second halves too but, overall, I felt that Tyrone had more good players than Meath, and it was just enough to see us through.

To be fair Richieq I would say it was more so a game Meath could of won not necessarily should of won as there was very little between two average enough teams, although was happy enough to see Bray going off, seemed a strange call. First half dire to watch, if that is what two second division team playing other looks like then next years league will be hard watching. Never mind defensive tactics, shooting bad, passing worse and as for ball handling....

A good game despite the low score. Meath unlucky not to win it. But a small number of Tyrone players made the difference like Bradley and Harte but quite a few others were poor. Very strange for Tyrone to leave Mc Shane, Mc Curry, and Mc Cann on the bench.

Got to work out what we are doing with free kicks. If nobody is capable of scoring them let's go short instead.

Good sporting support from Meath at the game.

Thomas Clarke fair play, it was no penalty and a blind man would tell you that, the amount of steps was unreal, that been said as i sit here eating a burger, we had enough opportunities to win it, breaks like the penalty happen in games, but we had the chances and just didn't take them , very bad switches from sideline.
Kevin Reilly played really well when he came on , graham Reilly was superb and kicked some of the scores of the championship, as i said Tyrone had some fine individual performance.
Lillywhite thanks for that, and two answer your question there is only one man who should take charge. Graham Geraghty.

Time for Colm O'Rourke to take the Meath job when it comes up later in the year and lets see him try his hand, he has been telling us for years why teams are doing wrong now put his theory to the test
