ziggy, of the two counties Meath have unquestionably the better of the two sets of forwards and unlike Tyrone this season scoring does not seem to be a problem. Where I believe this game will be won or lost is by who can defend better and this is where I believe Tyrone have the edge, the game will be won on fine margins, either way.

Ypu might be right there and actually I believe Meath have as good as players as Tyrone.. But there is a huge question mark with Meath mentally, and they are likely to be more fragile now. They have a management team that are cuter. For example if Tyrone were 10 points up against Westmeath,no way in hell would they lose that game.Mentally and tactically and fitness-wise this game is Tyrones,Meath will be looking for a new management team next season.

What anoys me about Mick O'Dowd,is the fact that our best man marker and by far our best corner back Donal Keoghan plays number 6,were he is average. He plays a guy who is atletic and can get round the field very well Donncha Tobin corner back and a very young man James McEntee, who, again is not a corner back in that position. It really makes no sense at all.

Ziggy you disappoint me I'm telling you now Meath will beat Tyrone , Meath's forwards are lethal Tyrone better be prepared for the pace of this Meath team , such a pity it's not on the box.

Ye I can't really see this being much of a contest to be honest, our recent history of collapses, fade outs and poor responses to bad defeats don't inspire any confidence in me that we can get a result in Omagh and I'm not interested in moral victories either, a 1 point defeat is ultimately the same as a 10 point defeat.

For whatever troubles Tyrone may be having at the minute they are still a far more astute team than Meath and should really win this quite comfortably in the end, no idea of the margin though, I'd say anywhere between 1-15pts, who knows.

I think pace is about one of the only things tyrone have. The tyrone camp isn't a all plain sailing think there is a lot of disquiet. Will be a tight game but I fancy Mark Bradley and mc caliskey to really step up this game and for big sean to cause havoc

Ok our forwards are pretty good, but they were made look even better by a poor Westmeath performance in the open spaces of Croke Park and showed terrible judgement near the end going for 2 goals (one which directly led to Westmeath's 3rd and killer goal) instead of tapping over 2 simple points.

Tyrone will wrap our lads up early and the confidence will drain, also we rarely seem to play well past 50-55mins these days due to lack of fitness and mental strength, I genuinely hate being negative but sadly that's what I've seen from this Meath team and I have little evidence to suggest otherwise.

It could go either way....
both camps unsettled and both managers under pressure.

Will our forwards be able to get the ball? Will McMahon be able to deal with been marked by a few players and physcially bounced around?

I'm the same, our response to a defeat in the champ has been poor.We went out tamely against Armagh last year, its hard to see any different.

Well to go against the grain I actually think we can win this, I don't believe Tyrone are as good as when they beat us two years ago and if we can sustain a 70 minute performance and remain mentally strong then we can win, how we react under pressure will be the winning of losing of the game and if that failing can be rectified then we have a chance

" we rarely seem to play well past 50-55mins these days due to lack of fitness and mental strength,"

I've commented on this a few times on other threads but for me this was the most striking thing about your defeat to Westmeat. Yez looked knackered after an hour. Maybe the training regime was tailored with a Leinster final against Dublin in mind but all the same it was strange to see.

I would expect Tyrone to come out on top here, maybe even comfortably if they get a good start. Another disappointing season for Meath I'm afraid.

Possibly another incentive for Meath is that if Tyrone were to lose it could well spell the end of Mickey Hartes reign as Tyrone manager. I'd say Meath supporters would dine out on that for years to come.

Tyrone to squeeze the life out of a dangerous Meath forward unit and win by 3/4 points in a low scoring, workmanlike performance and on to the next day.
