The difference between the hurling and football HT skirmish is the ref dealt with it in the hurling. But don't know what some of you where watching. Its simply not true to say no one on the RTE condemned the incidents before hurling half-time Cyril Farrell made a point of it the fact youngsters coming on had to witness that. Pretty hypocritical of Joe Brolly today. That aside much ado about nothng though signs society has gone completely soft given some of the reaction. Cannot imagine Marty Morrissey will be crying hiself to sleep tonight. Naysayer (Antrim) - Posts: 2071 - 24/05/2015 20:11:27 1727847 Link 0 |
Marty wont be crying himself to sleep tonight and I wont be watching the Ulster championship on RTE either. Joe Brolly is a nasty piece of work. He is being highly paid for all the crap thats coming from him. Oisin and Phillip. two very impartial gentlemen who say it as it is. The ref today was a lot better than last Sunday. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 920 - 24/05/2015 20:41:42 1727861 Link 0 |

Joe Brolly is no oil painting himself. He should have a long look in the mirror. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 24/05/2015 20:53:25 1727864 Link 0 |
Border Gael I would be of the opinion that a good bit of the negativity and nastiness about the game, teams and players has been influenced by the Sunday Game studio. Naysayer (Antrim) - Posts: 2071 - 24/05/2015 20:59:39 1727867 Link 0 |

There was no negative comments on yesterdays football because both teams went about there business as you would want. Hard but fair and no mouthing and messing around. If the two teams in last weeks game approached the game the same way there wouldn't be any negativity either. Last weeks game got negative press because it was a negative game. This weeks game was played in an entirely different spirit. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1490 - 25/05/2015 08:49:00 1727924 Link 0 |
As I predicted you only have to look at the irish times today to see the contrasts hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 25/05/2015 11:01:16 1727991 Link 0 |
The best thing to do in these circumstances is to either go to the game yourself and watch it, or chose a broadcaster other than the rte to watch the sport. Double standards are something that you dont have to put up with, unless you like complaining. I have gone past the stage where I would tune into the rte for the pantomime factor a long time ago. They have great panelists on the sunday game night time show, lads that know the game and analyse it properly. But the 3 that are on the live show with the likes of carney commentating, it is just 'puke broadcasting' Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3853 - 25/05/2015 12:34:19 1728057 Link 0 |

On a lighter note and with apologies for straying slightly from the topic, I enjoyed these contributions on the radio from Brendan Cummins and Anthony Daly respectively. tommy58 (Dublin) - Posts: 169 - 26/05/2015 16:45:18 1728725 Link 0 |
