7-111 was also scored in Division One, combined with 8-102 in Division Two and 13-101 in Division Three.

Getting rid of the black card would be a start. Not working and more teams defending in numbers now to avoid being liable to black cards in one on one situations. I don't think any of the so called experts have pointed this out?

a good rule would be to stop whinging and man up to the fact that there is only ever a handful of matches worth watching every year and that hasn't changed. The only difference being that teams who used to turn up and watch a big county take shooting practice at their expense now decide to frustrate them with defensive discipline which sometimes, although not always, will give them half a chance which is better than getting laughed at year in year out.

1711231 yeah getting rid of short kick outs would probably help things a lot

It is possibly the simplest rule change of all, which would have the single biggest Impact.

The Short kick out keeps possession and the teams slowly work their way up the pitch.

The long kickout can be contested by the opposition more easily, and this would force teams to try and win midfield and commit more players to the middle third.

1 man tackle. When the ref sees a second player in tackle he calls the number of that player tackling as the tackler. The other defenders stay out of the tackle or ref awards a free or 21 whichever is more advantageous to the attacking team. Should encourage defenders to improve their defensive skills. Defenders repeating infringement of being second or third defenders in tackles get same sanctions as players fouling.

I don't want to see the blanket defence eliminated, or an end to defensive style teams. To do such a thing would be playing to the strengths of Counties who prefer or who are better at playing more attacking style football. And that is not good for the game either.

We need a balance

By forcing teams to push kickouts long, the focus will shift from defence to midfield. And it is this should naturally lead to emphasis switching from defence to midfield.

Getting rid of short kickouts might be worth a try. But could we have a situation where its a total scramble at midfield for possession with swarm tackles, the blanket just ends up further out the field. I think it would be worth a try though. The idea of teams having to keep a certain number of players in the oppositin half sounds good on paper but how would the ref police that? It would be a nightmare at club matches with the ref getting no help.

Here's a thought. A point from play for numbers 2-4 is worth 3 points. 5-9 is worth 2 points and 10-15 stays at a point.

It's a big change but maybe it might encourage numbers 2-9 outside of their own half.

So, reduce kickouts to hoof it to the big fella in the middle?

If you're being cleaned in the middle, what do you do?

If the opposition drop one of the corners back to the middle to pick up breaks, you shouldn't give it to the unmarked cornerback?

There is no need for any new rules. There are enough.

Football can only be saved through referees knowing the rulebook and applying the rules correctly at all times. No room for stupid concepts like "letting the game flow" or "using common sense". A referee is there to blow the whistle when there's a foul. Do that EVERY time and the game would sort itself very fast.

I hate football now. I see the Northern nonsense being employed in Club match's and it's disgusting.

Thanks Mickey Harte and Jim McGuinness. Thanks a bunch for ruining our game.

Not a hope that would work. you would simply have players like Bernard Brogan, James O Donoghue or the Gooch wearing a corner backs jersey and moving up the field as soon as the ball is thrown in.

Four simple rule changes required.

1. No handpassing.
2. Fistpasses only go backwards (ball must be kicked to get the ball forward)
3. No two man tackles. 2nd defender must wait until first defender has finished his attempted tackle
4. Change blackcard to 10min sinbin

Not in favour of enforcing long kickouts as it prevents teams thinking quickly.
Any rule involving counting of handpasses or numbers of players in own half are just to hard to police. All of the above rules will be seen by the ref if he is following the play.
