No allstars but from the current Cavan panel I think Martin Reilly has possibly played in every line bar midfield. Mark McKeever has played a lot of football in both the backs and the forwards.

It's distinctly possible that Anthony Forde played in every outfield position for Cavan over the years.

TJ Ryan Limreick I believe played both in defence & attack.Wing forward and full back I believe.Did Ciaran Carey play in the forwards as well ? From memory did he start his career there at center forward ?
Benny Dunne Tipperary played wing back , midfield & wing forward.
Diarmuid Fitzgerald Tipperary also played center back and corner forward.
Ken McGrath Waterford was also used in both attack & defence.
Darragh Egan current Tipp sub goalkeeper is also a natural forward. plays there for his club and played with Tipp in the forwards too few years ago.

The question should be name an intercounty defender who became a GOOD forward.
Way too many defenders get converted to forwards to win the "dirty" ball around the middle in place of a genuine forward thinking player!

Tommy Walsh hurling, Graham geraghty the obvious examples. Graham Reilly I think his name was who ended up playing for meath at full forward and kicked the winner in the AI final replay.

Eamon Cregan stared off as a gaoalkeeper and [played successfully in every other position in the field except corner back. Ironically his father Ned won his All Ireland medal as a corner back

Ahh if we want to go down that road, paddy O'Rourke goalkeeper turned full forward back to goal keeper, and plays outfield for club.

Again going down the goalie route, Darren Hughes was goalie for the county minors when he was 18, and even then he was only chosen because the no. 1 got injured and Darren was picked because he had a good kick out. Mad to think otherwise he wasn't selected outfield. You could literally put him in any position and he'd be one of our best performers, such a complete player. He's played from full-back to midfield and also in the forwards on occasion and of course he was goalie in our run to the Ulster final in 2010!

On another note, McManus didn't make the panel that same year for our county minors, crazy to think of now as they're arguably our two most important players, and only two years later in 2007 they were playing in an Ulster final and an AI quarter-final.

royaldunne, Big Joe went from being goalkeeper on All Ireland winning team to left corner on AI senior winning team. All within a year! Surely unique?
