From my own county John Clarke won a AI minor medal in 99 playing corner back but played full forward in 2010 final. Also as far as I know Paddy Andrews of Dublin started his intercounty career as a defender

Tommy Walsh is surely the greatest example? All Stars all over the place.

Bryan Cullen of Dublin.

John "the Bulldozer" Carroll was a bit of a folk hero in Tipp. He started at wing back as far as I can remember. Peter Acheson for the footballers has had stints in several positions.

Andy Moran had a brief stint as a wing back for Mayo. Think he was nominated for an All Star in fact? And they've pushed Keith Higgins forward before of course.

Most Tyrone players! Mattie Donnelly the most recent example.

Sean Boylan used to be a fan of that sort of thing as well.

Pretty common really!

From Dublin:

Ian Robertson played centre half back for the minors in 1994, and full forward for most of his senior career - had he not been so injury prone, Tommy Carr would almost certainly have won at least one Leinster title while he was the boss.

Shane Ryan - played Right corner back, centre half forward and won an All star at midfield

Barry Cahill - right corner back, wing half back, centre half back, centre half forward

More recently in hurling Liam Rushe centre half back and this season full forward.

Agreed that the best Ive seen at both positions was Graham Geraghty. Can remember him charging forward from his half back line to score a great goal against us in '94, and his law of physics defying point against us in 2005.

The Great Eugene Nudie Hughes has to be the greatest example. Won an All star at corner back in 79 and one at corner forward in 85 in the days when all stars were giving to the best player in that position.

An example now would be the Great Dick Clerkin. Played at Full back as a County minor and recently in the McKenna cup played at Full forward.
It is great being in the crowd when he shoots. People shouting Don't shoot Dick.

Is graham geraghty the only one to win a all star as a back and as a forward? Just wondering i thought there was someone else

Without being glib, all forwards currently play as defenders. Ok strictly speaking a player may wear 14 on his back but if he is standing on the 45 nearest his own goal, is he a forward or a back?

In the last round of league games, Niall Morgan and Ken O'Halloran seemed to think that they were half backs..

Am I correct in saying Liam Rushe is an all star half back and half forward.

Serious achievement.

Ah you have affair few in Kerry, I wouldn't be that old but Mick O'Dwyer played wing back and wing forward, of the golden years Ger Power was both a wing back and wing forward, Óige Moran played both, as did Tommy Doyle, Seanie Walsh was Full Forward in 76/77 and Full Back in late 80's. Darragh o'Cinneide was wing back against Cork in 95 but was a more natural forward, Similar with Billy O'Shea played a few league games at wing back was like Darragh was a more natural forward.
