redandgreen County: All Posts: 263 85361 holymoly County: Dublin Is Boylan taking it on for definite this year? Thought he was through with it after the 06 fiasco ********************************************************** No he just threw a hissy fit for a few days because the ozzies were a bit.....ahem....over physical (yes - this coming from the former meath manager, i know, i know) and saint geraghty got a bit of rough house treatment. It was so disappointing to see that happen to a player who would never get involved in such behaviour himself ______________________________________________________ So RNG, please enlighten the rest of us when Graham Geraghty ever tried to break a fellow players' neck or indeed when has he ever set out to physically harm or hurt another player????

I'm with Mickey Harte on this one, pull the pin on it for good now and cut our ties with the AFL. I've played aussie rules and really enjoyed playing it, still watch it when i get the chance but enoughs enough. Mick Malthouse's comments tell me they just want to let off a bit of post season steam and beat the daylights out of us again.

It's like a lot of things in the GAA nowadays, just about the money that doesn't get spread about!! We should try and promote GAELIC GAMES and not some hybrid harlot that ultimately ends up in our best young talent getting nicked, then our "leaders" complain about it!!!

Is a certain Martin Clarke being forgotten or is he unavailable or something? Setanta as well. Totally agree though. Its time to put or biggest, most physical team out that can mix it within the rules. Show the Aussies no respect. We have plenty of big men who can put it up to them. I would include Rory Woods from Monaghan as well.

Im lookin forward to these games. A good big fist fight before the ball is thrown in should set the atmosphere just right

Dick Clerkin Vinny Corey Gary McQuaid A few more tyrone boys also, them boys roaring at the aussies with their big bearded faces like cavemen would surely strike fear into their hearts. The sight of joe mcmahon fetching a mark over barry hall is already in my head.

Bald eagle, i agree fully. wouldnt care if it was never played again!
and if they did decide to play it, there should be harsh penalties given out to make it fair. Maybe Bans given out to players in each of their respective leagues and championships.

Time to wise up lads! Meehan and Bradley far too small!! im talkin about calling up big lads who can match the aussies in the physical side.. the games are a farce and no1 cares who wins. the Aussies dont treat it with respect so why shud we??
Big aggresive footballers only! hopefully the whole thing will be scrapped afterwards!

I was once a big fan of this game but now I really don't see the point in playing it other than for the players selected to get an extra holiday and a few bumps and bruises.
Team selection all depends on who is available and who wants to play - that might be tricky. A lot of players get a lot of time off work as it is and now they'd be looking for another 3 weeks off for this. Also, if you were on the receiving end of some of the treatment handed out by the aussies the last time, I for one wouldn't be dying to get out there to take more of the same.

But if we were to go at this in a professional (ahem) attitude, we should take a leaf out of Colm O'Rourkes book in the way in which he selected his team. Granted, he had the luxury of choosing some of the best players gaelic football has ever had at the one time but I think we've enough players that could be effective. Throw in our own aussie rules players - Kennelly, Clarke, O'Hailpin, Begley and now Pearse Hanley we might just get a game out of it

As far as I know, setanta is unavailable for the series through injury. But the rest of the irish boys in the AFL should definately be included, even if they weren't that big in ireland, their experience of the game out there would be invaluable.

The likes of clerkin, corey and mcquaid could be options too, most other candidates have already been mentioned.

it just goes to show what a waste of time and how farcical the series has become when were having to send over big lads to fight them instead of being able to send over our best footballers.

Don't send our top lads, lets send a bunch of arrogant tugs, all over 30 with everything still to prove. Then we'd have an interesting series.

This series is long past its' sell-by date. Fail to see how anybody can get so worked up about it. After the last debacle, the thing should have been gracefully abandoned. Pity to leave a trophy honouring Cormac McAnallen with those Antipodean muck-savages though.
