Cavan v Down is the traditional one as its between the two most successful counties. Other big local ones are
Armagh v Down
Derry v Tyrone
Cavan v Monaghan

In the 90s you had Derry v Down and 00s you had Armagh v Tyrone.

Tyrone and Derry is always a bit tasty. Donegal and Tyrone over the past few years. God love us when they eventually beat us in the championship!

The rivalries are a bit of calm affair though are they? I mean like, Cavan will support Down and Down will support Cavan. Donegal will support Tyrone and Tyrone will support Donegal, as they will on Sunday fortnight.
When Cork came up against Down in '10, Down were the team I wanted to win. When Cork took on Donegal in '12, Donegal were the team I wanted to win. I glad to see Mayo see off the Cork fightback, as mush as we enjoy beating Cork in Croke Park! I can only imagine the Munster runners-up will be supporting the Ulster champions on Sunday fortnight.

Sam bad news for you. The Gaa did not start in 1992. Cavan and Down both have five All-Irelands. Was it 1970 or 1971 that Donegal won their first Ulster title? Cavan have won well over 30 Ulster titles at that stage. So me oule flower who is Donegals historic rival? Fermanagh.

I know its not as intense as it was 10 years ago, but by god it was nice feeling finally beating Tyrone this year.

Was good to finally beat Armagh in the league this year in the Athletic Grounds (in the midst of a storm), and bittersweet end to our campaign with defeat in the last game also meaning we relegated Armagh to Div 3, for a year only I would say. However was rooting for them in their surprising run in the championship this year. No single team can dominate in Ulster for long, competition and development in most counties too strong

That was a horrible night. I remember Stefan Campbell running half the field against gale force winds to score a great point. It was sickening to concede that late goal. Hopefully we will meet you again in Division 2 in 2016.

Ulster folk historically are used standing shoulder to shoulder - we got planted for it and then we got partitioned from the rest of the Island for it so not always to our advantage but unlike some other parts of the Island (cap fit cap wear) it is in our DNA not to break ranks when it comes to facing an outside foe.

Yugoslavia beat Czechoslovakia in the 1976 European final.
I dont remember this game but remember reading about it but either way the game is not hugely relevant to what happens this year- also I doubt we will see a repeat in my lifetime

I suppose geography conspires but almost every rivalry involves Tyrone. Bit like Tipp in the hurling. The greatest rivalry in Ulster has to have been Tyrone Armagh 2003 to 2005. Epic stuff.
